By Kim Durden
The Durden family thinks
there is no other brand of
car but CHEVROLET.
They have kept a 1969
Chevelle for two genera-
tions, and are now getting
ready to pass it on to the
third.
Ron and Imogene Durden
purchased the Chevelle in
March of 1969. After many
years of family trips and
vacations, they handed the
classic car over to their
son, Keith Durden, in 1986
when he was 16 years old.
Keith enjoyed many days
and nights cruising around
Aiken County as a cool
teenager with a rad ride.
Unfortunately, in 1987, a
drunk driver crossed the
highway and Chevelle was
wrecked. Thankfully no one
was hurt. After hard work
and a few added extras,
the prided Chevelle once
again became the muscle
car that it originally was.
It has been shown in many
car shows and has gained its
share of trophies.
Keiths son, Tyler Dur-
den, will be turning 16 in
December, and the Chevelle
will be handed down once
again. There are very few
teenagers this day and time
that can say that they have
a treasure that their fam-
ily has loved and has had
so much pride owning. He
has a huge responsibility to
ensure that this awesome
1969 Chevelle makes its
way into the next era.
