UBS Advanced Technologies

UBS can meet all your construction needs with a new cleverly designed & engineered building system.

This system can make new projects, renovations and extensions easy, affordable and problem free, with the knowledge that the job can be completed within a quarter of the time it would take to complete using conventional construction methods.

UBS Advanced Technologies new integrated building systems has developed unique construction materials and methods that will reduce the disruptive impact of the time it take to complete construction projects.

While still providing a structurally superior, eco friendly energy saving addition that will reduce build times by up to 70% and reduce construction cost by up to 50%

Wall System

A standard UBS wall block is 1 meter high, 2 meters long and 176 mm thick.

Wall blocks are pre-coated with our special Magnesium Oxide coating material which has been reinforced with a fiberglass mesh to prevent cracking.

This coating is 2–3 times stronger and impact resistant that cement render.

Page 4: 10) UBS AT OVERVIEW 2015 PDF

Wall Block

A standard UBS block is equal in size to 194 standard Australian bricks ( 76 mm X 230 mm ) that have been laid and rendered.

Difference being an UBS block will take only a few minutes to install.

You can imagine how fast a project can be completed utilizing this technology.

Page 5: 10) UBS AT OVERVIEW 2015 PDF

Light Weight

Each UBS block weight is 35kg to 40kg therefore putting them into place can be done with ease by two people.

UBS blocks have already been machine prefinished with our special coating on both sides.

Construction Panels

UBS roof, ceiling, flooring and deck panels have been manufactured using the same method as our wall blocks.

One difference is these panels do not have core holes , instead they have two 60mm x 30mm steel tubes laminated into the EPS panel before the coating is applied.

Depending upon engineers requirements the size and thickness of these steel tubes can be varied.

Steel tubes provide strength as well as a channel to run services through, They also provide anchor points for securing the panels to the structure

Construction Panels

Our construction panel is manufactured in lengths of 4 meters x 600mm wide and 124mm thick .

These panels can be used for ceilings and roofing.

Suspended floors and decks that are then covered with steel reinforced concrete (80 to 100mm thick )

They are fully trafficable as the adjacent photo shows with 4 workers standing on them during the installation stage.

Weight – Construction Panel

Each manufactured panel with steel strengthening tubes weight is 57kg however this weight may vary due to engineers specifications on the size of steel tubes laminated into it .

Standard panels are easy to maneuver into place without the need for heavy lifting equipment.

The panel size makes any job quick and easy to cover.

Strength

Each block has been specially prepared on the surface of the EPS so to minimize any chance of the coating delaminating.

Before the coating is applied both face surfaces of the block are covered with a fiberglass mesh which prevents any cracking of the coating, also adding strength.

Page 10: 10) UBS AT OVERVIEW 2015 PDF

Flexibility

The EPS pre coated

blocks can easily be cut to surround existing patio or carport supports.

This will completely conceal support structures of existing patios, carports, verandahs and so forth for a professional finish to the project.

Page 11: 10) UBS AT OVERVIEW 2015 PDF

Ease of Use

No special tools are needed to cut the EPS pre coated blocks and panels.

All that’s needed are the usual cutting tools required for any construction job.

All EPS used by UBS contain fire retardants.

Services Installation

Shown in this photo of a demonstration wall, all services (water lines, electrical power conduits and so forth) are simply placed within the blocks core holes along with the reinforcing steel bars before they are filled with concrete.

This time saving feature eliminates the need for expensive plumbers and electrical contractor necessity to cut channels into walls to install services.

Page 13: 10) UBS AT OVERVIEW 2015 PDF

Windows and Doors

UBS has developed a channel system which fits to the UBS blocks similar to how children's Lego fits together.

This provides complete flashing to all windows and doors when they are installed.

Further development will see these frames made from a fire retardant extra strong extruded PVC material,.

Currently we are using rolled steel frame.

Speedy Installation of Doors and Windows

Windows and door frames are made to measure and simply fixed into position within the UBS frame.

It’s extremely fast and easy to install the required doors or windows.

With a little silicone applied they can never leak.

Finishings

UBS blocks can be finished with virtually any type of finishing product required.

The photo on the left shows a textured paint, flat paint and tiled finish on our display walls.

Tiles can be applied directly to the machine finished blocks with a normal tile adhesives.

Very little preparation is needed to apply painted finishes

Structural Design

This simple display shows how structural our blocks are once they have been filled with concrete and reinforcing steel.

We have simply cut away one side of a section on one of our blocks to give you an internal view of the concrete structure.

Footing, walls and roofing are all designed to be connected with steel reinforced concrete providing a structure not unlike a roll cage for a race car !

Page 17: 10) UBS AT OVERVIEW 2015 PDF

Engineering

UBS blocks can have core holes cut to suit engineers design applications.

The design of the core holes will depend on the application for which the block is being used .

Page 18: 10) UBS AT OVERVIEW 2015 PDF

Fire Resistance

UBS has developed extra strong coatings for its construction material system.

Using specially formulated Magnesium Oxide based mixtures that provide mold , mildew, insect , water and fire resistance, with a strength far stronger than cement coatings.

The coating is considered eco friendly and good for the environment.

Its extremely safe to use unlike cement based materials

Background Information

This Power Point presentation is designed to give you a quick overview of the technology that has been developed by UBS Advanced Technologies .

We trust the information contained in these slides will give you an interest in perusing more details directly from our company.

EPS: Expanded Polystyrene Rigid Cellular Plastic

As a insulation EPS is second to none, it will not lose any of its thermal resistance with age.

EPS withstands in situ freeze – thaw cycles without loss of structural integrity.

EPS will not readily absorb moisture from the atmosphere

Page 21: 10) UBS AT OVERVIEW 2015 PDF

EPS: As a Sound Barrier and Insulator

EPS applications are especially beneficial in diminishing noise transmission in structures such as hotels, condos, multi-family buildings, theatres and structures built near airports and busy roads.

EPS insulation will greatly reduce both heating and cooling costs of you building, there is no better insulation than EPS . It will not lose any if it qualities over time.

History Behind UBS Coatings

Magnesium Oxide Cements – UBS has chosen to coat it products with an ancient building material know as MGO.

This coating was used in both ancient and now modern times, In fact Taipei 101 until recently the tallest building in the world has been constructed inside and out using MGO panels.

In 2008 World Olympic buildings in China costing US$160 billion where made out of MGO sheeting using over 8 million square feet of material in the construction project.

Page 23: 10) UBS AT OVERVIEW 2015 PDF

Magnesium Oxide Cement

MGO cements are an ancient building material developed thousands of years ago,.

Some of today's oldest structures still standing used this material within its construction due to its extreme strength, durability and longevity.

The Great Wall of China was constructed using MGO cement to bind its bricks together as did many of the oldest buildings throughout Europe.

Page 24: 10) UBS AT OVERVIEW 2015 PDF

Modern Buildings

MGO cements are the way forward in construction .

Over 60% of carbon dioxide emissions from industrial processes in 2006 are attributed to cement manufacture.

That is one of the reasons why MGO cements are considered “green” they do not add excess carbon dioxide emissions the same as cement.
