Staff Leave - Mrs Hawke, Mrs Godwin and Mrs McCulloch are on leave this week. Parent Survey – “The Tell Them From Me” Survey I am delighted that this term (as in term 1), our school, like many other public schools in the state, will participate in a Department of Education initiative: the Tell Them From Me student feedback survey. This term, the student survey again aims to help improve student learning outcomes and measures factors that are known to affect academic achievement and other student outcomes. The focus of the NSW-wide survey is on student wellbeing, engagement and effective teaching practices. More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/information-for-parents The survey is a great opportunity for our students to provide us with valuable and quick feedback on what they think about school life, how engaged they are with school and the different ways that teachers interact with them. Our school will also be participating in the Partners in Learn-ing parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. Running this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views on the school's support of learning and behav-iour. This valuable feedback will help our school make practi-cal improvements. The survey is conducted entirely online at home or on public computers. The survey will typically takes 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. The parent sur-vey will be conducted between 17 August and 16 October. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, however, your responses are very much appreciated. To access the survey online please go to: https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/wv7dy Staff Training
This week staff will be trained in “How Students Learn” and understanding of the new learning progressions.
Have a great week. Peter Johnson - PRINCIPAL

Congratulations to Chenae from Zebras for being selected as a finalist in the LITTLE SELLERS ART
PRIZE. Chenae and her family will join the Mayor at the end of September for the announcement of the winners.
EnviroMentors Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 participated in the EnviroMentors Workshop last Tuesday. They learnt about the Water Cycle and how to save water. They were also given the opportunity to act out how to save water by washing the car on the grass and watering at the base of a plant rather than the leaves. They
enjoyed this part of the workshop especially.
Persuasive Texts by Eagles We should clean up our beaches!
I strongly believe that people should definitely clean up our beaches and our sea. Everyone knows that with the rubbish on the beaches it will be sad. Who is chucking rubbish in the drains? Because drains go down to the sea. So don’t chuck rubbish in the drains, OK!!! Because it can kill the creatures in the sea, so for these reasons, all of the plastic needs to be cleaned up. By Logan Motbey
Swish! Swish! There go the waves. But wait! There’s plastic in the water. I feel very sad, we have to stop it. Firstly, fish think that bottles are food. They eat it because it is shiny and fish are attracted to shiny things. Secondly, people wouldn’t want animals to die. But if we keep trashing! Fish will die! Thirdly, we might like to eat sea animals. But we will die as well as the fish because they have been eating plastic. In conclusion, that is why we should clean up our beaches, for all these reasons listed. By Emily Morrow
It is clear that we need to clean up the beaches. The environment is becoming rubbish infested, and never ending. We have to stop it! Surely, everyone knows that rubbish is bad because fish have been dying and the people killing them don’t care, but I do! It won’t end! Everyone knows that, people have been throwing rubbish in the SEA! Animals that live in the sea are in danger! By Serena Wu-Edwards
The boys touch footy team played against Ulladulla last Wednesday. They lost 8-5 but all the boys played very well against a well-drilled team. Well done boys and thank you to Nigel for training and coaching the team!

WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING IN THE CLASSROOM THIS WEEK
PBL - POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING
This week we are focusing on Respect:
Use good manners Be friendly Maintain personal space Keep noise to a minimum Listen to all teachers, not just your own Respect other students’ games/space Show appreciation with appropriate applause or response
PEER SUPPORT Why Teach Values?
Students draw on the values from the significant adults in their lives and clarify them to determine whether they will adopt them as their own. Their life experiences provide opportunities to explore these values and critically evaluate them.
Session 5
In this week’s Peer Support session the children will be looking at rights, how we as individuals have rights and so do other people. Activities will also remind the children that although they may find themselves in difficult or awkward positions, they still need to remember to do the right thing.
Discuss with your child a situation you were in that was potentially difficult or awkward and explain the decision you made and why it was the right thing to do.
