• Stay alert – the Greenway routes areshared by horse riders, walkers,cyclists and, on the BlakeneyGreenway, carriage drivers too.
• Cyclists should take care when comingup behind horses and always warnriders of their approach.
• Keep to the marked path and showconsideration to others.
• Leave gates and property as you findthem.
• Keep dogs under control at all times,especially near cyclists, horses andother animals.
• Don’t leave any litter or do any damage.
And Always Plan Ahead…• Plan your journey using an OS map.• Follow the waymarkers provided on

Route MaintenanceWhere the Greenways make use ofBridleways, maintenance problemsshould be reported to theGloucestershire Public Rights of Wayteam via their online reporting system -www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/prow.

TheExploring…
The Forest of Dean,in Gloucestershire,
lies between the RiverSevern and the Wye Valley, two great tidalrivers that protect and preserve a uniquelandscape and way of life on the borderbetween England and Wales.
A recreational project of nationalsignificance, the Forest of DeanGreenways now provide even greateraccess to this beautiful part of Britain.
Over 30 miles of high-qualitywoodland tracks suitable for use by horse riders, carriage drivers,
walkers and cyclists are contained within four individualGreenway circuits linked to each other and to nearby towns andvillages by around 20 miles of quiet country lanes.
This network of new bridleways, established bridleways andForestry Commission tracks also connects with local touristattractions, accommodation providers, equestrian centres anda host of pubs, shops and rural businesses.

The Dymock Forest Greenway(approximately 7 miles long)
The Dymock Forest Greenway comprisesapproximately 2.5 miles of high-quality off-roadtrack located within Queens Wood and Hay Woodand 4.5 miles of quiet country lanes and bridleways.
The Huntley Woods Greenway(approximately 9 miles long)
The Huntley Woods Greenway includes 1.75 miles of newlydedicated bridleway and an additional 0.75 miles of bridleway,connected by approximately 6.5 miles of quiet country lanes.
The Hope Wood Greenway(approximately 4.5 miles long)
This self-contained, figure of eight Greenway is an attractive 4.5 milelong circuit that’s all off-road.
The Blakeney Greenway andCarriage Driving Circuit(approximately 12.5 miles long)
This spectacular figure of eight Greenway and CarriageDriving Circuit is almost all off-road apart from one
very short section of a country lane near Blakeney Hilland is also suitable for para-carriage drivers.Visiting carriage drivers wishing to use the BlakeneyGreenway must contact the Forestry Commission’soffice in Coleford (phone 01594 833057 or [email protected]) to buy an annual
permit which will provide them with keys to thebarriers that control access to this route. Please allow at
least 14 days for applications to be processed.
