1 year old class
The 1-year-old classes are social based
promoting a playful introduction into
preschool. As with all classes for preschool it is
designed for social and emotional growth. The
class participates in age appropriate crafts,
introduces letters, numbers, colors and shapes.
The class follows a schedule with plenty of
playtime while still promoting transitioning from
activities and locations on campus.
2 year old class
In the 2-year-old classes our main goal is to
help your child experience a new
environment, away from home. We will do
our best to create a safe, loving, happy
environment where children can play,
explore and learn. Each month we will
introduce a new color, number, shape,
theme and a weekly letter. We will read
books, sing songs, dance and play together,
and work on art projects to reinforce themes
and concepts.
3 year old classThe 3-year-old classes are academically-focused and socially-
interactive, yet provide a fun and nurturing environment for children
to grow cognitively, socially, physically and spiritually. We provide a 4-
hour structured program that includes Free Play, Circle Time, Art and
Guided Learning Centers. Weekly "specials" include Science, Music
and Chapel. Schoolwide, we have recently implemented two new
curriculums - "Handwriting Without Tears" - a curriculum that uses multi-
sensory techniques and consistent letter formation habits to introduce
handwriting ---and ZOOPHONICS - a language arts program using
sight, sound and movement integration to engage young children of
all learning styles. Of course, the children have plenty of opportunities
for free play, an essential part of learning for a young child. Our
program includes weekly themes that include everything from "Friends
and Families" to "Dinosaurs" to "Weather", as well as seasonal topics. All of these elements create cognitive, language, math, motor and
social skills building blocks to prepare the children for our Pre-K
program.
4/5 year-old classesIn the 4-year-class we focus on Kindergarten readiness and
developmentally appropriate skills-based learning while still nurturing
the magic of being 4 and 5. We learn the tangible skills like letter
recognition, formation, and sounds and the intangible like being a
good friend, following directions, and independence. We use a
variety of educational learning tools and engaging craft and science
materials to make learning fun. Our numbers are small, 8-1 student to
teacher ratio so the teaching is differentiated and individual. We are a
Christ-centered school and that shows in our curriculum. We partner
with families to instill a love of learning and often have a lasting
relationship with current, former, and future students. We have recess,
snack. lunch, science, music and attend chapel once a week while
still leaving time in the day for families to have time to spend together
or have playdates or gather afterschool on the playground.
In the young fives class all of the above applies. This class is geared
towards the student who needs an "extra" year to prepare for
kindergarten. Those with a late Birthday or in need of extra practice of
certain skills find this class a viable option to help create a successful
transition to elementary school.
