Who Attended Our February meeting was held Wednesday, February 18th. Two homeowners attended along with Joe Beckford, Tony Corroto, Brad Ellingson, Avonda Hendricks and Tracey Mlincsek of the Camden Pointe HOA Board and Ruann Bunker of All-In-One Management. New Officers Announced The 2009 Board’s officers were announced and are as follows: Joe Beckford, President; Tony Corroto, Vice President; Brad Ellingson, Treasurer; Tracey Mlincsek, Secretary; Avonda Hendicks, Member-At-Large. For a complete list of each member’s other responsibilities and contact information, check out the Camden Pointe Website at www.camdenpointe.com With only two homeowners present, this month’s meeting was very short and focused on the upcoming improvements to the clubhouses and accomplishments so far this year. Clubhouse Updates The large clubhouse has a new refrigerator and new couches so far. We are donating the old couches to charity. We are currently in the process of obtaining bids for the refurbishment of the putt-putt course and the painting/gutters/carpentry needed on the two clubhouses. The current plan calls for all the improvement work to be completed before the pool opens for the summer season. Next Meeting Our next HOA meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 18th at 7:30 p.m. in the large clubhouse. Please bring your ideas, concerns, questions, and offers of help for the coming year. We hope to see you there!

To all of our hard working Board Members and Committee Chairs!

All the rain that has been falling this winter will surely help our yards and neighborhood look great this Spring just as the falling interest rates are surely helping our checkbooks. Have you taken advantage yet? 30-year fixed rate loans are currently available in the 5% range and 15-year fixed are a good bit below that. I’ve already helped many of your neighbors. Camden Pointe Tennis Rules! All three of our Senior Mixed ALTA teams are in City Finals this weekend at DeKalb Tennis Center! And Darryl Millard’s A5 Mixed team won their division and the first round of the playoffs before falling in the second round. It was a great season for all our teams, Congratulations!

Pat and Amy Pohl’s A5 Senior mixed team won their division and hosted Mountain Park in the semi-finals at our Camden Pointe courts. They took them out winning three straight lines. Leading off were Amy Pohl and Jenny Dunlap in women’s doubles winning 7-6, 6-2. Then Larry Smith and Lance Stafford won the Men’s doubles in a very tight and contested match 4-6, 7-5, 7-5. Then the match was closed out with Pat Pohl and Sandy Allen taking line 1 mixed doubles 6-2, 6-0. They now play Piedmont Bend in City finals whom they beat 3-1 in the regular season but expect a tougher time in the Finals.

Our ‘two” ALTA A9 Senior teams captained by Doug Page and Tom Spurlock

will be playing each other in the City Finals!

Doug Page’s team was the A9 division winner and beat Hannary West 3-1 in the semi finals also on our home courts. They started off winning the women’s doubles with Gail Douillard and Cheryl Reno 6-2, 6-4. In the men’s semi final match Mark Douillard and Ken Dunn came up against very strong competition and lost a tight three set match 7-5, 4-6, 0-6. Then the team dominated line one mixed with Janice Larkin and Dave Vogel winning 6-1, 6-1 leaving the match in the hands of line 2 doubles team of Teresa and Darren Hayes. And after a slow start they dominated the second and third sets winning 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 to clinch the berth in City Finals.

Tom Spurlock’s A9 mixed team came in second place and had to go on the road to Suwannee to play Richmond TC in their playoff semi-final match. After losing the women’s and men’s doubles in very tight matches played by Brenda White / Babbie Bridges and Scott Chapman / Tim White the team got it going in the mixed doubles matches. It was a race to the finish. If both Camden Pointe mixed doubles won then the match would be tied 2-2. A 10 point tiebreaker would then be played by the last match on the courts to determine the winner. Line one doubles team of Vicki Turner and Tom Spurlock and line two Debbie Larson and Steve Johnson both came thru in the clutch and won their tight matches. And then it came down to Vicki and Tom playing the 10 point match tiebreaker with the winner going to City Finals. After falling behind 1-4 they rallied to win 11-9 and now play Doug Page's team this Saturday at DeKalb Tennis Center.

Good luck to all our teams in City Finals! Bring home the big Plates and Championships!

Our spring season is right around the corner. We will have 8 teams playing this spring. Two Thursday Women’s teams captained by Jeanne Olsen C6 and Doreen Galubinski C3. Three Saturday Men’s teams captained by myself AA4, Darryl Millard B2 and Lamar Jones B4. As well as three Sunday Women’s teams captained by Carol Thomas A4, Song-Ye Hughey B8 and Paula Parenteau C6. Paula Parenteau’s C6 team is looking for more players. If anyone is interested in joining the team please contact Paula via email [email protected] Good luck to all our teams, keep the Camden Pointe Tennis tradition alive! Have fun, show respect and just win... John P. Clancy, Tennis Coordinator , 770-529-8016, [email protected], www.camdenpointe.com/tennis.htm

Changes to the Camden Pointe Scrip Program As most of you know by reading our monthly newsletter, Camden Pointe is an active participant in a scrip card program. This program allows us to purchase scrip or gift cards to virtually any retail establishment. The benefit is that Camden Pointe buys purchasing the cards at a discount, thereby generating additional revenue to our subdivision. We are looking to change the way in which the revenues are retained. We believe this change will benefit both our subdivision and those homeowners who use the program. Beginning in March, we will be sharing 50% of the discount back to the homeowner in 2009. This sharing of the discount will go directly towards your annual dues, in this case the 2010 dues. Here is how the program will work: If you purchase $1,000 of scrip (gift) cards in 2009 that have a 12% discount, you will receive $1,000 of gifts cards for the various stores and will also earn a credit of $60 towards your 2010 dues (50% or half of the total discount of $120 which is $1,000 @ 12% discount). Your dues in 2010 would be $380 instead of $440. The benefit is that you will buy gift cards for those establishments that you are already shopping at, Camden Pointe will receive $60 in additional revenue, and you will receive a credit of $60 towards your dues. A small charge (normally $7.50) for shipping costs from the scrip company will be deducted across all users or orders for that week. In the current economic situation, we feel this is a win-win opportunity to generate additional revenue for Camden Pointe, but also to save money for ourselves. This is an all volunteer program, so you can choose not to participate. For those that do participate, we will track all purchases so that your purchases will go to reduce your dues. There will be no pooling of discount dollars; we will track and give credit back to the families that use this program. For those that are interested, the scrip company that we are using is at www.glscrip.com. You can see all of the retail establishments that participate in this program and their discount rates. We also can purchase Kroger gift cards as well through a separate program. Their discount rate is 5% and will work just like the gift cards through glscrip. I will try to be at the small clubhouse every Tuesday evening from 7 – 8 for orders, and you can always contact me at my home as well with orders. Brad Ellingson
