Paul felt it was superfluous [unnecessary] to write to them about their goal which was made a year earlier [probably referring to 1Cor. 16:1,2]

Preparedness is the outcome of a genuine desire to serve Christ. (v.2)o These Christians were ready to participate in a good

work. See 8:10.
