• The imagery of stones is used in different ways in this passage. Why does Peter refer to Jesus as the

“living Stone”? What does it mean for us to be living stones?

• Peter also uses the analogy of a cornerstone. Why does Peter us this analogy to describe Jesus? What contrasts do we see regarding the way people respond to Jesus as the cornerstone?

• Discuss with your group what it means to be a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. What

are the implications of these descriptions both personally and corporately?

• Share, personally, how you can be a “living stone” to those around you, even as you live as an alien and foreigner.

• Pray for one another that you would live a life that glorifies God even as it confounds people who

don’t know Jesus.
