AIM EPO rated as highly successful by PERG evaluators.
Primary EPO accomplishments include:
• 3 professional development workshops for teachers conducted in Alaska and numerous additional mini workshops leveraged through other EPO programs;
• videoconferencing events for students, international learning symposiums, and conference presentations;
• numerous multimedia products including: a NASA eClips podcast; a CBS TV news report; an AIM DVD produced with WHRO Public Broadcasting; an AIM EPO website with Problem-Based Learning Modules and lessons; and a section on AIM included in the UCAR website “Windows to the Universe” .

• During the 2006 and 2007 workshops the teachers learned science content, classroom applications and interacted with scientists including Astronaut Don Pettit, AIM PI, James M. Russell III and Deputy PI, Scott Bailey. Partners in 2006 and 2007 included GLOBE & CloudSat.
• In 2009 AIM extended their EPO by partnering with six NASA missions to form the Heliophysics Educator Ambassadors program “Exploring Boundaries in Space”.
Partnering with other EPO programs allowed AIM to
implement additional workshops, expanding the EPO.

13,500 students were directly impacted by
3 AIM teacher workshops
• Participating teachers instruct in 5 classes with 30 students per class = 150 students per teacher x 30 teachers (per workshop) = 4,500 students impacted from just one workshop.
• Multiplied times 3 workshops = 13,500 students directly impacted by the AIM EPO workshops.

AIM EPO Partners with GLOBE :
bringing the science of AIM to classrooms in 112 countries.
• Live teleconferencing events and webcasts allowed students to interact with scientists
• Joint presentations were conducted at IGARSS; NSTA; AGU; and at 3 GLOBE International Conferences
• GLOBE atmospheric protocols were incorporated into the workshops

In addition to the workshops, AIM was recruited to participate in additional student & teacher events. Two examples are below.
• AIM EPO scientists and science educators participated in two student & teacher science symposiums held in Mexico. The events brought students from across Mexico to learn about NASA satellite missions. The AIM PI, James M. Russell III, conducted a video conference with the students and Deputy PI Scott Bailey and EPO Director Dianne Robinson were keynote speakers. (no cost to AIM)
• AIM also led sessions for the NASA Endeavor Center Launch Workshops in California.

AIM EPO provided multimedia products
An AIM DVD was produced with the WHRO Public Broadcasting Network
Teacher Burt Medicine Bull provided the DVD introduction that links AIM to historical
stories of the night sky passed down by Native Americans. The 20 minute DVD
provides classrooms and the public with a better understanding of the AIM mission.
NASA eClips and CBS News Videos
AIM podcasts were produced for NASA eClips and CBS news interviewed Dr.
Russell for a TV news report and YouTube. Both media products will continue to provide
students and the general public with a better understanding of the mission.

Windows to the Universe Website UCAR provided the AIM EPO with
online education materials and interactive activities, including a history
of NLCs.
EPO Websites connect classrooms and the public
with the science of AIM
AIM EPO Website Hampton University continues to
provide AIM with an EPO website rich with science content, learning activities,
and a connection to EPO events.
