Networked: Math Test

The average search is 4-6 months and requires talking to ~25 different decision makers before getting hired by 1 of them. It takes an average of 15 other people (friends, acquaintances, and insiders) to put you in touch with 1 decision maker.

15 x 25 = 325 conversations 5 months (21 x 5) = ~105

working days 325 conversations / 105 days =

3 to 4 job search conversations a day

That’s 3 to 4 job search conversations every work day until you get a job

Manage Your Emotions

Be prepared for the emotional highs and lows of the job search cycle

Keep a positive attitude Find a friend you can vent your frustrations to

(probably other than a spouse) Seek help from friends, pastors, professional

counselors, or physicians if you are feeling very anxious or overwhelmed

Make a Conscious Effort to Smile – It Reflects Back
