The Metropole Ruhr is one of Europe's best connected regions in terms of transport:

The Metropole Ruhr has access to five top international airports with the Dortmund airport in the region and the airports of Münster, Paderborn/Lippstadt, Düsseldorf and Cologne/Bonn in the immediate vicinity.

From the core cities of the Metropole Ruhr, Düsseldorf airport can be reached in about 45 minutes, and the airports of Münster and Cologne/Bonn in about 60 minutes.

Dortmund airport

With more than 1.7 million passengers per year and 65 destinations, it is thefourth-largest traffic airport in NRW

Düsseldorf airport

With more than 18 million passengers per year and 180 destinations, it is thethird-largest traffic airport in Germany
