The invention provides a method and apparatus for creating plasma particles and applying the plasma particles to a liquid. Liquid feedstock (e.g., water and/or hydrocarbons mixed with biomass) is pumped through a pipeline; the single-phase stream is then transformed into a biphasic liquid-and-gas stream inside a chamber. The transformation is achieved by transitioning the stream from a high pressure zone to a lower-pressure zone. The pressure drop may occur when the stream further passes through a device for atomizing liquid. Inside the chamber, an electric field is generated with an intensity level that exceeds the threshold of breakdown voltage of the biphasic medium leading to a generation of a plasma state. Furthermore, the invention provides an energy-efficient highly adaptable and versatile method and apparatus for sanitizing water using plasma particles to inactivate biological agents contaminating water.

The present invention is a nickel recovery loss reduction method in a sulfuration step for blowing hydrogen sulfide gas into a nickel-containing sulfuric acid aqueous solution to generate nickel-containing sulfides and a barren solution, and the nickel-containing sulfides with the average particle size adjusted to a predetermined size or larger are added as seed crystals to the sulfuric acid aqueous solution. It is more preferable to adjust the average particle size of the nickel sulfides to be added as seed crystals to 55 µm or more.

The invention relates to a battery comprising liquid electrolyte, which is preferably used in moving vehicles, wherein the battery has the following features: a battery housing (1) comprising side walls (3, 4), a housing floor (2) and a cover, a liquid electrolyte (6), the level (7) of which is within predetermined tolerance limits (7a, 7b), electrodes (5), a flow channel plate (8) being arranged at least on one side wall (3) so as to form a flow channel (9), wherein the upper end of said flow channel (9) serves as an exhaust port (9a), a mixing vessel (10) comprising a mixing vessel floor (12) and mixing vessel side walls (11a, 11b, 11c) being arranged above the electrodes (5), wherein the mixing vessel side wall adjoining the exhaust port (9a) is formed as an overflow (13), the mixing vessel floor (12) being located below the minimum level (7b) for the liquid electrolyte (6), which minimum level is provided for operational reasons, and at least one floor opening (14) being provided in the mixing vessel floor (12).

The present invention relates to a method for production of a botulinum toxin, and more particularly to a method for preparation of botulinum toxin, the method comprising the steps of: (a) treating a culture of a botulinum toxin-producing strain with acid to precipitate a botulinum toxin; (b) adding buffer to the precipitated botulinum toxin, followed by treatment with a protease inhibitor and nuclease, thereby extracting the botulinum toxin; (c) treating the extracted botulinum toxin with acid to precipitate the botulinum toxin and dissolving the precipitate in buffer; and (d) purifying the botulinum toxin by anion exchange chromatography. The use of the method of the invention toxin makes it possible to produce a high-purity botulinum toxin by a simple process, suggesting that the method is very economical and efficient. The botulinum toxin produced by the method of the invention has high purity compared to botulinum toxins produced by conventional methods, and thus has an increased ability to act in a local area. Thus, the systemic circulation of the botulinum toxin, which can result in side effects, is reduced to increase the safety. Accordingly, the botulinum toxin of the invention can be used for various purposes, including treatment of neuromuscular disorders, removal of wrinkles, and treatment of spastic hemiplegia and cerebral palsy.
