Liquid feedstock (e.g., water and/or hydrocarbons mixed with biomass) is pumped through a pipeline; the single-phase stream is then transformed into a biphasic liquid-and-gas stream inside a chamber. The transformation is achieved by transitioning the stream from a high pressure zone to a lower-pressure zone. The pressure drop may occur when the stream further passes through a device for atomizing liquid. Inside the chamber, an electric field is generated with an intensity level that exceeds the threshold of breakdown voltage of the biphasic medium leading to a generation of a plasma state. Furthermore, the invention provides an energy-efficient highly adaptable and versatile method and apparatus for sanitizing water using plasma particles to inactivate biological agents contaminating water.

Thus, the systemic circulation of the botulinum toxin, which can result in side effects, is reduced to increase the safety. Accordingly, the botulinum toxin of the invention can be used for various purposes, including treatment of neuromuscular disorders, removal of wrinkles, and treatment of spastic hemiplegia and cerebral palsy.

A first wireless communication device (14-1)belongs to a first (12-1) of multiple groups (12) of wireless communication devices(14). Devices (14) in any given group (12) are synchronized to the same timing reference and devices (14) in different groups (12) are not synchronized to the same timing reference. The first device (14-1) receives a message that indicates, for each of one or more of the groups (12), a range of possible values for misalignment between the timing reference of that group (12) and a common timing reference. The range accounts for uncertainty in that misalignment. The first device (14-1) determines, based on the one or more ranges, intervals of times during which direct control signaling is expected to be received at the first device (14-1) from one or more devices (14) in one or more other groups (12-2, 12-3). The first device (14-1) then adjusts intervals of times during which it is configured to operate in an awake state to narrowly encompass the intervals of times during which the direct control signaling is expected to be received.

Aspects of the disclosure provide for a thin control channel structure that can be utilized to enable multiplexing of two or more data transmission formats. For example, a thin control channel may carry information that enables ongoing transmissions utilizing a first, relatively long transmission time interval (TTI) to be punctured, and during the punctured portion of the long TTI, a transmission utilizing a second, relatively short TTI may be inserted. This puncturing is enabled by virtue of a thin channel structure wherein a control channel can carry scheduling information, grants, etc., informing receiving devices of the puncturing that is occurring or will occur. Furthermore, the thin control channel can be utilized to carry other control information, not being limited to puncturing information. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.
