National Survey defined 3 types of

online victimization

1. Solicitations and approaches: Requests to engage in inappropriate activities, or talk or give personal information that were unwanted or, whether wanted or not, made by an adult.

2. Unwanted exposure: Without seeking or expecting inappropriate material, being exposed to inappropriate pictures when doing online searches, surfing the web, opening E-mail or E-mail links.

3. Harassment: Threats or other offensive behavior, sent online to the youth or posted online about the youth for others to see.

Measures you can take at home

Although there are many recommended steps you can take, none are 100% guaranteed. The best action is to keep an open, ongoing dialogue with your child on his/her Internet use.
