Traffic filtering & CDNs• Goal: Improve the speed and efficiency for all Office 365
customers
• Method: Leverage internal and 3rd party Content Delivery
Networks (CDNs) to host graphics and other parts of the
service
• Issue #1: IP Addresses of content delivery network
endpoints are not necessarily within the control of Microsoft
• Issue #2: IP Addresses of content delivery network
endpoints change based on CDN requirements
Future
Enterprise Users & The Internet
• There will not be an SLA for updates
• Updates to the list will happen with more lead time
• Filtering based on URLs will remain the recommended
approach
• RSS updates will become more useful
• We will explore alternatives to RSS notification
