Our signature was carefully created to encom pass and represent

our brands philosophy. It em bodies the idea of sym biotic relation-

ships, protection and security, balance with flexibility, and the

undeniable synergy of two halves uniting to create a greater whole.

This new Sym antec signature is the graphic representation of our com pany and the

values for which it stands. It identifies us to the w orld, displaying an im age that is both

strong and discrete.

The Sym antec signature com bines the two m ost im portant visual elem ents of our brand,

The Sym antec signature elem ents should never be separated. Position, size, and color,

height of the letter Cof the Sym antec logotype. A m inim um

clear space requirem ent has been established to ensure the prom i-

nence and clarity of the Sym antec signature.It is essential that the

Sym antec signature rem ains free of all graphics, taglines, identities,

photography, and typography.

Minimumsize refers to the sm allest size at which the Sym antec

signature m ay be reproduced to ensure its legibility. The m ini-

m um reproduction size of the Sym antec signature is 1/8" in

height, based on the height of the letter Cof the Sym antec

logotype. How ever, when space lim itations dictate the use of a

reproduction size that is sm aller than the recom m ended m ini-

m um , contact the Sym antec Corporate M arketing Departm ent for

approval of those special applications. Observe the reproduction

size requirem ents of the signature to avoid poor quality or distortion.

Sym antec yellow, white and black serve as our brands corporate

colors for print, electronic and environm ental applications.

Sym antec yellow is unique; there is no P antone* or other color

Proper application of the Sym antec signature is essential for

prom oting, m aintaining, and protecting our brand. Adhere to the

specifications in these standards and use high-quality vendors

and reproduction m ethods to ensure consistent representation

of our brand.

The preferred color configuration of the Sym antec signature is in

full color and should be used whenever possible.

Based on the applications and reproduction requirem ents, there

are two w ays to reproduce the Sym antec sym bol: for applications

such as packaging, the Sym antec sym bol reproduces in four-

color process. For applications such as stationery, the Sym antec

sym bol reproduces in two colors, Sym antec yellow and black

(for reproduction instructions, see diagram to the left).

For restricted or one-color applications,

the Sym antec signature appears in black

and white.

Specifically, there are two w ays to reproduce

the one-color Sym antec signature: with

either grayscale or line art. The grayscale

version em ploys the use of a black and

white gradient to render shading and depth

within the im age. It is a far better represen-

tation of the original three-dim ensional

Sym antec sym bol and should be used

whenever possible in one-color applications.

In contrast, the two-dim ensional line art

version m erely depicts the outlines of the

sym bols; it is a sym bol of the sym bol.

The line art version should only be used in

situations where the m aterials and/or repro-

duction m ethods prevent the rendering of

dim ension and shading (e.g., em broidery,

engraving, glass, wood, vinyl, etc.).

The Sym antec signature m ust always appear clearly and legibly

on its backgrounds. Always observe clear space specifications

and use high-quality vendors and reproduction m ethods.

The preferred color configuration of the Sym antec signature in full

yellow background. In this case, the Sym antec logotype always

appears in black.

The Sym antec signature m ay also appear on black, dark-colored,

and light-colored backgrounds as long as sufficient contrast is

provided. In situations where the background color is a grayscale

som ew here between absolute black and white, please observe

the follow ing recom m endation: when the background shifts to

m ore than 50% gray in density, the Sym antec logotype m ust

appear in Sym antec Yellow. A gray background density of less

than 50% requires the use of the black Sym antec logotype.

W hen placing the signature on a background other than the

ones specified in these standards, use your best judgem ent to

determ ine whether black or yellow Sym antec logotype renders

the highest contrast.
