You now need to register the handset with your BT Home Hub. 1. On the BT Hub Phone 1010 handset: From idle mode, press Menu (shown) to access the main menu. • Scroll through the menu until Registration is highlighted and press OK . Register Handset is displayed. • Press OK , Base 1 is displayed. • Press to the base you want to register to and press OK . Base units already in use displayed with a * . System PIN is displayed. Enter your BT Hub Phone system PIN: 0000 (this is the default setting). Digits are displayed as asterisks. If you make a mistake, press Clear to delete the last digit or Back to return to the previous menu. • Press OK to start registration. Base search…is displayed. 2. Press and hold the Wireless key for 3 seconds to start registration mode. During registration, the light on the front of your BT Home Hub may flash. 3. When registration is complete, the handset display will briefly show Handset registered, then BTphone 1 (as shown). 4. Try dialling a number, then press the button on your handset. You should hear a high-pitched dial tone, which means your BT Broadband Talk service is working successfully. BT Hub Phone 1010 Quick Start Guide Bringing it all together 1 Before you start 1. Remove the grey cover from the front of the BT Hub. If it does not come off easily, carefully apply a little more force. 2. Attach the cradle to the BT Home Hub. 3. Slide open the battery compartment on the back of your BT Hub Phone handset. Insert the 2 x AAA rechargeable batteries supplied. Slide back the cover to close. 4. Place the BT Hub Phone 1010 into the cradle on the BT Home Hub. You should hear a beep when the handset has been placed correctly. To make a call you must always include the full area code, even if calling locally, e.g. 0208, 0207, 01702 Does my computer need to be on to make BT Broadband Talk calls? No, it doesn’t but your BT Home Hub must be switched on. Are there any calls I cannot make using BT Broadband Talk? You can make most calls but you cannot make calls to the operator, non-BT directory enquiries or dial-up Internet Service Providers. What about calling 999? If you make an emergency call to 999 or 112 from your BT Hub Phone, the Home Hub will automatically use your standard telephone line. This is a safety measure to ensure the emergency services can identify your location, if necessary. What happens if my broadband connection stops? If there is a broadband failure, your BT Broadband Talk phone (standard, DECT cordless or Hub Phone) will automatically use your standard telephone line. You’ll know this because the light on your BT Home Hub will be off and the dial tone will be normal and not the high- pitched tone used by the BT Broadband Talk service. BATTERY SYMBOLS Charged 50% Low Handset will beep when battery is low IMPORTANT You can locate your handset anywhere in your home, using the mains power adapter and charging cradle to keep the handset charged. Occasionally, connect the charging cradle to the hub and place your handset in it to auto- matically download any new upgrades . Definition of Hi-Definition Sound (Hi-Ds) If somebody using a BT Hub Phone calls someone else using a BT Hub Phone, BT Softphone or BT Videophone, then the call will automatically set itself to the best call quality using the Hi-Definition call quality feature. Hi-Ds works automatically,so you don’t need to do anything to enjoy high-quality sound.
