You now need to register the handset with your BT Home Hub.

1. On the BT Hub Phone 1010 handset:

• From idle mode, press Menu(shown) to access the main menu.

• Scroll through the menu untilRegistration is highlighted andpress OK . Register Handset isdisplayed.

• Press OK , Base 1 is displayed.

• Press to the base you want to register to and press OK .Base units already in use displayedwith a *.

• System PIN is displayed. Enter yourBT Hub Phone system PIN: 0000(this is the default setting). Digitsare displayed as asterisks. If youmake a mistake, press Clear todelete the last digit or Back toreturn to the previous menu.

• Press OK to start registration.Base search…is displayed.

2. Press and hold the Wireless keyfor 3 seconds to start registrationmode. During registration, thelight on the front of your BT HomeHub may flash.

3. When registration is complete, the handset display will brieflyshow Handset registered, thenBTphone 1 (as shown).

4. Try dialling a number, then pressthe button on your handset.You should hear a high-pitcheddial tone, which means your BTBroadband Talk service is workingsuccessfully.

Bringing it all together1 Before you start

1. Please make sure you have followed the BT Total Broadband Set-upGuide for the BT Home Hub

2. Check that you have subscribed to, and activated, your BT BroadbandTalk service.

3. Check the Phone, Broadband and Internet lights on your BT Home Hubare lit up green.

4. Check the contents of your BT Hub Phone 1010 box contains:

1. Remove the grey cover from thefront of the BT Hub. If it does not come off easily, carefullyapply a little more force.

2. Attach the cradle to the BT Home Hub.

3. Slide open the batterycompartment on the back of your BT Hub Phone handset.Insert the 2 x AAA rechargeablebatteries supplied. Slide back the cover to close.

4. Place the BT Hub Phone 1010 intothe cradle on the BT Home Hub.You should hear a beep when thehandset has been placed correctly.

Charge your handset for at least16 hours on first charge beforeusing the phone.

What if I’m having problems making a call?

To make a call you must always includethe full area code, even if calling locally,e.g. 0208, 0207, 01702

Does my computer need to be on tomake BT Broadband Talk calls?

No, it doesn’t but your BT Home Hubmust be switched on.

Are there any calls I cannot make usingBT Broadband Talk?

You can make most calls but you cannotmake calls to the operator, non-BTdirectory enquiries or dial-up InternetService Providers.

What about calling 999?

If you make an emergency call to 999 or112 from your BT Hub Phone, the HomeHub will automatically use your standardtelephone line. This is a safety measureto ensure the emergency services canidentify your location, if necessary.

What happens if my broadbandconnection stops?

If there is a broadband failure, your BTBroadband Talk phone (standard, DECTcordless or Hub Phone) will automaticallyuse your standard telephone line. You’llknow this because the light on yourBT Home Hub will be off and the dialtone will be normal and not the high-pitched tone used by the BT BroadbandTalk service.

You can locate your handset anywherein your home, using the mains poweradapter and charging cradle to keepthe handset charged. Occasionally,connect the charging cradle to the huband place your handset in it to auto-matically download any new upgrades .

Definition of Hi-DefinitionSound (Hi-Ds)

If somebody using a BT Hub Phone callssomeone else using a BT Hub Phone,BT Softphone or BT Videophone, thenthe call will automatically set itself to the best call quality using the Hi-Definition call quality feature. Hi-Ds works automatically,so you don’t need to do anything to enjoyhigh-quality sound.

Tips

Now that you have registered your BT Hub Phone with the BT Home Hub,this is the phone that will use your BT Broadband Talk service.

If you have another phone which is plugged into the back of your BT HomeHub, it can now be removed and plugged into your standard telephone wallsocket, via a microfilter, as shown.

Your BT Hub Phone 1010 is ready for use.

Default call handling settings have been set up as shown in the diagram above.However, you change these settings through your BT Hub Manager.
