On behalf of Amrita Hospitals, the Interventional Pulmonology unit & Department of Pulmonary medicine is honored and delighted to have the opportunity to host the ABIP (Amrita Bronchoscopy and Interventional Pulmonary) 2018.

From the humble beginnings of being a sub speciality taking care of the sickest - consumptive disease (Tuberculosis), the �eld of pulmonology has embarked on providing care of the even more sick making advances by leaps and bounds in the �eld of non-TB pulmonology, Intensive Care Medicine and most recently in the last 2 decades, Interventional Pulmonology (IP). Mediastinum long considered the domain of the surgeon, is now accessible by EBUS - an outpatient procedure, done by the pulmonologist. The pleural space has become very accessible to diagnosis for all those unexpalined exudative pleural e�usions via thoracoscopy. Airway tumors and bronchopleural �stulas are no longer an indomitable enemy for the Interventional pulmonologist. Navigational bronchoscopy has made distant peripheral lung nodules easily reachable and combining ENB with radial ebus has dramatically increased diagnostic accuracy for all these nodules.

To learn more about what in happening currently worldwide in the �eld of IP, we welcome one and all to a 2 day educational treat on October 27-28th 2018 at Amrita Hospital in Kochi, Kerala. At our �rst ABIP, we will be hosting several renowned international experts in the �eld of IP who will share their expertise through didactic lectures as well as hands on workshops (limited spots). This will also be a wonderful opportunity to personally meet the experts and try to seek ways to further skills if you are considering this in your future skill set. Details of future opportunities at Amrita for Interventional pulmonary courses will be unveiled as well.
