Inspiring Place

AnAn ability to observe and analyse our surroundings is one of the most important skills of an architect. An early project which asked students to identify a place they found inspiring in Dundee led me to explore the multitude of textures displayed near a lookout point over the River Tay. Having identified this as a place which should be further used and appreciated by the Dundee public, students were asked to present proposals for changes or improvements they could make to theirtheir chosen sites. My own proposal was for a moulded seat for 2, acting as a resting spot from which to enjoy the views, and also as a shelter, with its curved form which extended to create a canopy over the users.
