Tested unitsshall be glazed, completely assembled, and constructedin accordance with requirements indicated. Performtests on units with window sash. Materials andworkmanship used in test units shall be identical tothose proposed for the project. Use ofnonrepresentative measures or techniques is prohibited.

    D. Design Requirements: Comply with structuralperformance, air infiltration, and water penetrationrequirements for type, grade and performance class ofwindow units required.

    1. Component parts and completed window assembliesshall be designed, fabricated and installed to

withstand design pressure of minimum 98 kg/m, forwind loads normal to wall, acting both inward andoutward.

    2. Uniform Load Deflection: No window member (glazed)shall deflect more than 1/175 of its span at thespecified design load when tested in accordancewith ASTM E 330 at a static air pressure differenceof at least 98 kg/m and the pressure applied firston one side of the unit then on the other.

    3. Air infiltration rate of galvanized steel windowsshall not be more than 0.30 cfm per ft for inwardtest pressure of 30 kg/m, when tested inaccordance ASTM E 283.

    4. Water Penetration: There shall be no waterpenetration, as defined in ASTM E 331, when testedin accordance with ASTM E 331 at an inward testpressure of 39 kg/m.

    E. Manufacturer and Installer Qualifications: Engage onexperienced manufacturer and installer who has minimum

5 years experience of manufacturing and installingsecurity galvanized steel windows similar in design andfinish to those required for the project and which hasresulted in construction with a record of successfulin-service performance. Manufacturer and installershall be subject to approval of the Engineer.

    F. Single Source Responsibility: Provide securitygalvanized steel window units from one source andproduced by a single manufacturer.

    G. Field Measurements: Check actual window openings byaccurate field measurements before fabrication. Showrecorded measurements on final shop drawings.Coordinate fabrication schedule with constructionprogress to avoid delay.

    2. PART 2 - PRODUCTS

    2.01 MATERIALS AND ACCESSORIES

    A. General:

    1. Provide manufacturer's standard security galvanizedsteel windows with integral gridwork of toolresistance members and provision for a security

glass light from the exterior. Windows shall becomplete with members, glazing beads, settingblocks, and glazing wedges.

    B. Security galvanized steel windows materials andconstruction:

    1. Security galvanized steel windows members shallconsist of 22 mm round tool-resistant steelbars running horizontally on 150 mm centersconcealed in head and sill members and encasedin horizontal tubes, and 56 mm width x 10 mmthick flat tool-resistant steel bars concealed

in jamb frame members. Round bars penetrateflat bars and are secured with steel washerswelded near ends. Tool-resistant members arein accordance with ASTM specification A627 andA629.
