Winter weather is now upon us and as an Academy we obviously have to plan ahead. Our emergencyresponse team met recently to review action in the event of severe weather conditions. All factors includingtransport disruption, safety of the premises, safety and supervision of students, safety of staff, catering provision; etc.were considered in our planning.
No school wishes to disrupt childrens education and a decision to close the Academy is only ever taken as a last resort, when remaining open would endanger the health and safety of students and staff.
In the event that the Academy has to close due to severe weather conditions our plan to communicate the decision is asfollows:
Website:a ticker tape alert will be placed on the homepage of our website www.oasisacademyisleofsheppey.org
Email:An email will be sent to all parents/carers please ensure we have your up-to-date details
Texts: Text messages will be sent to all parent/carers if your mobile number has changed, please advise us
School Telephone: Parents/Carers may phone the school and speak to a member of staff OR, if staff are unable
to get into school, a recorded message will be placed on our answerphone: 01795 873591
KCC: Parents/Carers may wish to sign up to receive notice of school closure via theKCC weather alertsystem. To register log on to http://www.kentclosures.co.uk/A small fee applies for this service, 20p per text,
emails are free. Please read terms and conditions on the website.

Oasis UK believes that every person is important and that with kindness and compassion we can
help people to lift themselves out of trapped, desperate situations and into happier, brighter
futures.
Oasis works in 29 communities around the UK, supporting the breadth of needs through education, healthcare,
children's and youth work, debt advice centres, food banks and much more.
Here at Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey we have been raising funds to help several charities, both locally and
nationally. In the future we would like to help the global work that Oasis does in some of the poorest areas of the
world.
This year we have planned to raise money to help:-

During the weekend of Saturday 29thand Sunday30thNovember, over 100 Beavers made their wayto our West Campus where they were holding aChristmas sleep over. Beavers are young peopleaged between 6 and 8 years old. On Sheppey,
Beavers always live up to their motto of fun andfriends. They meet up each week after school, and take part in lots of fun activities. The Christmassleep over is a major event that all Beavers lookforward to. Our wonderful facilities make an idealindoor campsite. To keep the excited childrenentertained, the reception block was split into threeareas: a creative area, where the children could doarts and crafts; a skills area, where they couldpractise archery and knot tying; and a games area, where they could compete against each other. Thehighlight of the day was Christmas dinner cooked in
the Academy kitchen and a visit by FatherChristmas. After such a fun filled day, not manyyoungsters had trouble sleeping on the sports hallfloor!
