Orthodox Church in Boca Raton reflects Renaissance architecture.

Humanism during the Renaissance adopted classical Greek architectural influences, which can be seen in St. Mark’s symmetry and its columns. The Byzantine influence was also an inspiration to Renaissance architecture, and is reflected in the dome of St. Mark’s. St. Mark’s Greek Orthodox Church

Renaissance Legacy-Art

This photo was taken at the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach. Many Renaissance paintings by actual Renaissance artists are on display and people still flock to gaze at their beauty.

Renaissance art reflected the ideas of humanism and showed human beings in the real world without regard to religion with the use of shadow and perspective.

The Gayle and Paul Gross Gallery on the third floor of the Nessel Wing at the Norton Museum of Art displays many Renaissance paintings.

Renaissance Legacy-Literature

This image represents literature from the Renaissance. William Shakespeare wrote plays during this time, and they continue to be re-enacted by people today.

Shakespeare’s plays reflected humanism because his characters showed human emotions and character faults. This theater troop does improvisational versions of Shakespeare’s plays with a modern twist.

Renaissance Legacy-Inventions

This image of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is one of many in her best-selling book series.

Duplication of these books would not have been possible without the invention of the printing press during the Renaissance.

Humanism is reflected in modern literature as authors are free to write about topics other than religion without being persecuted. (Most of the time)

Harry Potter is one of the best-selling book series of all time, made possible by the invention of the printing press.

Renaissance Legacy-Science

This image of a poster of upcoming events at the Dekelboum Planetarium in West Palm Beach expands on the Renaissance interest in astronomy.

During the Renaissance, in contrast to the beliefs of the church, humanists had a renewed interest in astronomy, and Copernicus’s theory of the sun being the center of the universe and the Earth revolved around it. This theory still prevails today.
