We submitted our budget last week and Kenny kids won trophies at two different chess tournaments. This week, the Minnesota Sinfonia performed at our school and Pits and Alleys opens in the gym tomorrow. Next week, we have Kenny students presenting at two district sponsored activities, Viva City Fine Arts Festival and Rope Power. We end next week with the always amazing Kenny Parent Foundation (KPF) March Magic event! We submitted our budget on March 6. We were able to continue our current programming with some reduction in hours to Associate Educators. We were able to do this because the KPF committed over $55,000 to maintain our pro- gramming. The Site Council and KPF understand that level of support is really not sustainable. Our current plan is to move band to afterschool programming in 2021-22 and start the transition next year. The budget information is all posted on the Kenny School website. The only staffing change I know of currently is the retirement of our speech teacher, Cynthia Peyton. We are excited for her and with her the best. Thank you Kenny Parent Foundation for all your support! We know Coronavirus is in everyone’s thoughts. We are told the most important thing we can do is maintain a healthy lifestyle. Please make sure everyone is getting enough rest, eating healthy, and drinking lots of water. The staff is reminding the children to wash their hands throughout the day. We also teach the children the proper way to cover a cough. As we move into testing season after spring break, we have plans in place to clean computer stations on a regular basis. We will do everything we can to keep the children safe. Kenny is a very special place. Please see the textbox about the Spring Carnival. We are in dire need of coordinators for the event. We have a very lean program but with the assistance of our families, it is a very strong program too! Also, please continue to track the information about Comprehensive District Design. The Superintendent’s proposal will be made public next week. Thank you for all you do to make Kenny the amazing Community School it is! Bill Gibbs, Principal
