Fred Lee Fuller, 79, passed away Sunday February 11, 2018 after a long struggle with bladder cancer. Mr. Fuller was born Sep- tember 23, 1938 in India- napolis, Ind. To Edward and Marie Fuller. In Feb. 1956 he joined the United States Navy and married his wife of 56 years Audrey Janette May 1960. Remembered as a wonder- ful husband, father, grandfa- ther and great grandfather, he loved the outdoors and loved being a gate attendant for the Army Corp. of Engineers for Brushy Creek at Lake O’ the Pines. Memorial services for Fred Lee Fuller of Jefferson are scheduled for Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake O’ the Pines Baptist Church with Bro. Shawn Thrapp and Bro. Eric Wilburn oficiating under the direction of Haggard Funeral Home. Mr. Fuller is preceded in death by his beloved wife, parents and two brothers. He is survived by his children Edward Fuller and wife Mela- nie of Pasadena, TX., Janette and husband Lenny Allen of Lake O’ the Pines and Fred L. Fuller, Jr. of Lake O’ the Pines, his sis- ter Sandra and husband Ralph Chaney of Chicago. He had 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. The Fuller family extend their deep thankfulness for all your love, prayers and concern. In lieu of lowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, woundedwarriorproject.org. A memorial guestbook may be signed at www.haggardfu- neralhome.com Luke 15:11-24 The limitations of the English language at times diminish our understand- ing of scriptural concepts. For instance, there is only one word for love in Eng- lish, but the New Testa- ment uses two different Greek words. One of them, phileo, refers to brotherly concern and affection, but the more powerful term agape signiies a sacriicial commitment to another’s satisfaction, security, and development. This is the kind of love that God has for us—and that the Holy Spirit produces in and through believers. Perhaps the best way to understand agape is to see what it looks like. In His parable of the prodigal son, Jesus describes a father’s sacriicial love for his wayward son. When the young man demanded an early inheritance, the father didn’t deny his request, though he knew it would lead only to bitterness. So despite personal and inancial sacriice, he gave the son his share. Then the father waited patiently while the prodigal learned a dificult lesson. No doubt that was a trying time for the father because a good dad wants to protect his children from mistakes and the resulting consequences. But a wise man also knows that some hard truths must be learned through painful experi- ence. At times the best thing we can do is trust the Lord to reach deiant hearts. But agape love doesn’t just let go; it also forgives and re- stores. When the prodigal son returned home humbled and contrite, his father reached out to receive him and restore him to the family—just our heavenly Father does for us.
