HEN I was a student com-pleting my un-dergrad work at the Barbara
Brennan® School of Healing, I wrote and performed a clini-cal trial on the use of bio-energy treatments in the surgical set-ting. The study was approved by the University of Minnesota In-stitutional Review Board (IRB) and was performed at Fairview Southdale Hospital, Edina, MN.
Bio-energY treatMents BeneFit surgical patients The data results of the re-search, which was performed on patients undergoing total joint replacement surgery, showed sta-tistically significant improvement in subjects who received the ex-perimental treatment in the areas of pain management, strength, and endurance, incision healing, and range of motion over those who didn’t get the treatment.
The value and validity of bio-energy therapy in surgery was recently demonstrated through a client’s unusual experience. Over the course of the last 25 years the individual has undergone four abdominal surgeries. Last fall she required yet another operation. wHo knew tHe uneXpected results oF energY treatMents In 2008 the client underwent a kidney transplant. Transplanted kid-neys are placed in the lower abdo-men in the front of the body. Three years after transplant, the new kid-ney was turning and twisting, cut-ting off the artery that fed the organ. Surgeons explained to her that they rely on the formation of scar-ring and adhesions to help hold the new kidney securely in place. De-spite the fact that she had not one but four abdominal operations, she has not a trace of scarring or ad-hesions in her abdominal cavity.

Surgeons were quite mystified by this. I, as her practitioner, was not. “Abdominal adhesions are an expected outcome with abdominal surgery,” they explained. However, she had used consistent bio-energy healing treatments to aide in her surgical recoveries and one thing in particular I focused on was the prevention of tissues forming what can be dangerous and painful adhe-sions. Apparently her smooth and supple abdominal cavity allowed a wide open space in which the new kidney could flip, spin, and turn. Surgeons needed to literally stitch and glue the kidney to the inside of her abdominal wall to keep it still and safe. Had surgeons only known up front that the tissue would heal without the typical side effect commonly experienced, they
would have done this procedure at the time of transplant.

What can we do? Donna Eden’s energy medicine techniques are very powerful and effective ways to calm triple warmer and its automatic fight, fright, or freeze mode. Everybody is different, so try vari-ous ways and see what works best for you.
1. Do something you love. Laugh. Be grateful for what you have. These are amazing ways to activate our radiant circuits (an energy system that is like our metro area “highway helpers” that jump to wherever a need arises). 2. Hold the beginning and ending of the triple warmer meridian. Hold the indent by the side of your eye with the first three fingers of one hand at the same time as holding the end of your ring finger on your other hand. Then do the other side. 3. Hold your forehead with the palm of your hand (whiche er hand feels the best to you). 4. Hold your forehead with the palm of one hand and hold the back of your head with the palm of your other hand. 5. Put your right hand on your left shoul-der by your neck and your left hand on your right shoulder. 6. Cross your arms, putting one hand below your “bra line” on your side and putting your other hand holding the side of your upper arm just above your elbow. Then switch sides.
You cannot hurt yourself doing these exer-cises! You cannot hold these points too long. The more you do them, the better they will work! Do the ones that seem to work the best for you!

life game plan going, and was stick-ing to it pretty well. What I didn’t know was that my spiritual recov-ery program was merely the prepa-ration I needed to move into the next phase. I crashed into a personal crisis that changed my life forever.
reconciling Hunting witH loVe For aniMals When I married my soul mate and moved from the city to a semi-rural area I ran right into a hunt-ing culture that was foreign to me. Even though I grew up on a farm in southern Minnesota, I rarely saw deer on our property and hunting was not a part of our lifestyle. In the city, while I was aware of its ex-istence, hunting rarely affected me. My husband, however, grew up in
the woods and hunting was an inte-gral part of his life. My stepson, who was 11 at the time, wanted nothing more than to follow in his footsteps. So there I was, an animal com-municator and strong empath, try-ing to make sense of the emotional turmoil that rocked my world ev-ery hunting season. I understood all of the logical aspects of hunting. I am not a vegetarian and I totally agreed that it was better for the deer herd to be culled than to have them dying of starvation during a hard winter. But all of that meant nothing when it was excruciat-ingly painful to feel the dread and terror of the animals. Add to that the fact that the deer is my main power animal! None of the tools I had accumulated through my spiritual quest even fazed the depth of that pain. I tried prayer, medi-tation, hypnosis, counseling and therapy but nothing worked, and it almost destroyed my marriage.
sHaManic soul retrieVal Helped in all areas oF MY liFe In desperation I contacted a shamanic practitioner and described the issue. I had heard of shamanic soul retrieval before and it sounded interesting, but I wasn’t really called to follow up on it. Suddenly, it be-came imperative that I seek out this spiritual form of healing. The soul retrieval was a life-changing experi-ence. I felt a shift for the better in my emotional stability immediately and as I listened to the tape of the session again and again, that shift became stronger and more no-ticeable in several areas of my life.
