Clean SkyThe Aeronautics Joint Technology Initiative

• A large-scale project based on public-private partnership

• Responds to the environmental chapters of the ACARE Strategic Research Agenda

• Aimed at delivering technologies to dramatically improve the impact on the environment

• Will include large-scale validation testing of breakthrough technologies

• Will represent a European structuring organisation for aeronautics research

• 12% of the EC funding will be for SMEs (200 M€ - 1000 to 2000 SME contracts)

Clean Sky Technology Evaluator

A networked simulation suite that:• will translate the impact of innovative

technologies in term of overall ATS performance wrt environmental challenges

• can evaluate the contribution of R&T activities in the platforms in relation to ACARE targets of SRA

• will be a monitoring tool for JTI stakeholders and public authorities

• will provide elements of guidance and justification for decision making within the JTI

• will substantiate consistency within each platform and between all the platforms for the global objectives

Green Regional Aircraft

Demonstrate and validate specific technologies and concepts for a new future generation “green” regional aircraft aimed at reaching ACARE environmental goals while increasing safety and competitiveness.

The Platform will concentrate on two specific domains:

• Low noise configurations

• Low weight configurations

Management of Trajectory and Mission• Systems and procedures to perform high precision optimised

trajectories to minimise noise and emissions impact in airport areas

• New aircraft systems for Smart Ground Operations to optimise use of engine power when aircraft is on ground and provide silent taxing capabilities

• Capability to fly green missions

• Validation by a ground based rig and flight testing
