Ayat of the Month
In surat Al-Imran Allah
(swt) says Say (O Muham-
mad to mankind): "If you
(really) love Allah then
follow me (i.e. accept Is-
lamic Monotheism, follow
the Qur'an and the Sun-
nah), Allah will love you
and forgive you of your
sins. And Allah is O%-
Forgiving, Most Merci-
ful." (AlImran 3:31)
Hadith of the Month
A companion of the Proph-
et Muhammad (peace be
upon him) said he had
seen no one more given to
smiling than the Prophet.
Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 1231
Welcome! First Issue of The Monthly Noor
Asalaamu ‘Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi
wa Barakatahu!
This is our first publication of The
Monthly Noor, “The one place to find
your monthly dose of Noor.”
This is a newsletter that has been cre-
ated in order to showcase the enthusi-
asm and creativity of the students at
the Islamic Foundation Sunday School.
We hope to show the community the
potential and excellence of the stu-
dents here as a means for inspiring
others.
Often times, the newsletter will contain
sections including but not limited to: an
Ayat of the Month, Hadith of the Month,
Islamic articles, and any works done by
students.
The management of this newsletter is
being done by Br. Thymur and his
newsletter committee. For any ques-
tions, please contact at
If your students, children, or you your-
self (as a student) would like to be pub-
lished in this newsletter, please email
us so we can follow up with more de-
tails.
We would love to publish any work as
excellence requires recognition. We
then hope that the recognition will in-
spire other students to develop greater
aspirations in their goals here in the
Sunday School and in their life.
The Monthly Noor is not affiliated nor
do we support any political agendas.
As such, we will not publish news relat-
ing to such agendas.
This is a newsletter specifically focus-
ing on the students.
We only hope to inspire, unify, and in-
crease our love for our deen, our Is-
lam, our Allah (SWT), and our
Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Salim
and his family.

A Student’s Perspective: The
Importance of Loving
Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alayhi
wa Salim
Tanvir Siddiqui, a student of IFSS grade 6B,
beautifully answered a question posed by his
teacher Br. Hussain Jilani. Br. Hussain had asked
his students to describe in any fashion, whether it
be an essay, poster, or poetry, why it was im-
portant to love Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa
Salim. There were many students with brilliant
works, however, this poster was recommended for
publication.
“I was surprised. The students are going above my
expectations in terms of their understanding of
many important Islamic concepts. I was very hap-
py.” said Br. Hussain after class. Tanvir gave elev-
en reasons as to why everyone should love
Rasulullah Sallallahu ‘Alayhi wa Salim. We will list
them going clockwise on his poster.
1. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) showed us how
we find peace and love in this life and the next
life!
2. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is the best creation
with the most noble character!
3. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) set an example to
mankind by the Almighty!
4. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) came with the truth
and the call to Allah (SWT)!
5. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) taught us to be pa-
tient and to never lose hope in Allah (SWT)!
6. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was the most truth-
ful and sincere in his words and deeds!
7. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) ordered us to speak
the truth even though against over selves!
8. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) brought humankind
together based on the religion of justice!
9. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) commanded us to
enjoin good and forbid evil!
10. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) he showed us to
be good to people even when they are bad to us!
Tanvir had wrien in beauful Arabic calligraphy:
“Bismillah hi Rahman ni Raheem” and “La ilaha
illallah, Muhammadur Rasulullah”, however this
poron of the poster was not shown out of respect
for those words as this page would be printed and
distributed.

“My name is Sabrina bint Tariq...I think that my
mom named me this because she wanted me to
have patience”
Sabrina Tariq, smiling in the picture above, is a
student in the 2B grade. In her third period Islamic
Studies course, Br. Thymur gave his students a
project that would help the younger generation of
Muslims define themselves and be proud of their
background and religion. Students were required
to make a poster presentation between one to
four minutes long of what their
A Student’s Perspective:
What does my name mean?
11. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) taught us respect
and mercy towards the aged and mildness to-
wards children!
“So whoever tries to attack his name, should know
that his honor and his nobility is already deep
seated in human history and can never change.”
Br. Hussain commented that Tanvir’s work was
just one out of the many excellent projects he re-
ceived. All his students seemed excited and en-
thusiastic to continue learning and expressing
themselves.
names meant, the ethnic origin of their name,
what their name referred to (whether it was an
object, person, place, or idea), and a brief de-
scription of its history.
Students were also evaluated on the creativity
and neatness of their posters.
Sabrina enlightened her classmates by talking
about her name. She said that her name has an
Arabic origin as it comes from “Sabr” which
meant patience. In addition, she went onto say-
ing that it also referred to a white rose.
Sabrina had received the highest grade in her
class, and thus, was nominated for publication.
She is one amongst over 20 students who pre-
sented.
Below are the names of the students who also
did exceptionally well in 2B. Congratulations!
• Asma Ahmed
• Sinan Anwar
• Emaan Dada
• Mahreen Kamal
• Daaniya Mirza
• Adam Munshi
• Alina Muzammil
