    3.1 Adding a Site

    3.1.1 Task Description

Purpose To add a site without resetting the BSC

Prerequisitez The BSC is configured with idle E1 ports.z The data to be configured is consistent and correct.

    Note

z You can add only one site to one BIE port in one operation. If the newTRXs are distributed on multiple chains, add TRXs or cells after adding

the site.z Adding a site also involves adding a cell. Perform Modify Cell

Handover Parameter to configure the neighbor cell after adding thesite.

    3.1.2 Procedure

Adding a Site Without Timeslot Manual Adjustment

Using an example, this part shows how to add a site without timeslot manual adjustment.

Assume that you have to add Site2, and TRX 0, TRX 3, TRX 5, TRX 8, TRX 18, TRX 21 andTRX 24 in BM1 for two cells.

The conditions of the example are as follows:

    z Cell1 includes TRX 0, TRX 5, TRX 18 and TRX 24; Cell2 includes TRX 3, TRX 8 andTRX 21.

z Cell1 and Cell2 are bi-directionally adjacent.z No timeslot manual adjustment is required for the new site.z The new site is connected to port0 of BIE0.z The trunk mode is 2E1 port*15:1multiplexing/port.The procedure is as follows:

Step 1 On the BSC Data Auto Configuration System, choose BTS > Add a Site. The Add a Site dialog box as shown in Figure 3-1is displayed.

Purpose To delete a faulty TRX, or to adjust the capacity of the cells within onesite

Prerequisite z Block the TRX on the Site Maintenance System.z To delete main BCCH TRX, choose Cell > Modify TRX Channel

Type first to change the TRX into non-main BCCH TRX and assign anew BCCH to the cell. If the cell has only one main BCCH TRX left, choose Cell > Delete Cell to delete the cell.

z If the number of full rate channels the cell can provide is smaller thanthat reserved after the TRXs are deleted, change the reserved channelnumber first.

Note z You can delete the TRXs (except main BCCH TRXs) of only one cell inone site at a time.

z For the BTS20, the associated FPU is also deleted when the TRX isdeleted. For the BTS3001C, the associated MFU is also deleted whenthe TRX is deleted.

z After the TRX is deleted, the rack will be deleted (except for rack0) ifthere is no TRX on it.

z If the BIE port is in timeslot manual adjustment mode, adjust thetimeslot manually when deleting the TRX. For details, see section 3.1"Adding a Site" or section 3.3 "Adding a TRX."

    3.4.2 Procedure

Using an example, this part shows how to delete TRXs. Assume that you have to delete TRX

18 and TRX 21 of Site2 in BM1. These two TRXs reside in Site2-1 that contains TRX 0, TRX18 and TRX 20.
