Noun Clause ile Adjective clause bir birleriyle karıştırılmaktadır. Bunun sebeplerinden birisi de her iki yapıda kullanılan benzer WH- ifadeleridir. Bu ifadelerden genel olarak kullanılanlarına bir göz atalım.

Lakin bu benzer kullanımlar arasında çok temel farklılıklar bulunmaktadır.
1. Adjective Clause cümlede yer alan bir ismi niteleyen sıfat grubudur ve cümlede tek başına bir öge olarak yer tutmaz.
» I will show you the pictures of the town where I am from.
Görüldüğü üzere WHERE ifadesi TOWN ifadesini tamlayan konumundadır. Bir de benzer NOUN clause cümlesi kuralım.
» I don’t know where he went after school.
Bu cümlede ise NOUN clause ifadesi KNOW yükleminin nesnesi konumundadır. Bu durumda WHERE ifadesi için noun ya da adjective clause mu sorusunun doğru cevabı; WH- ifadesinden önce bir isim gelip gelmediğine göre karar verilmektedir. Birkaç örnekle daha durumu inceleyelim.
» Write down the people who want to join our trip to Istanbul.
» Could you tell me who stole your money?
» I worry about the situation that might cause conflict between sides.
» I think that grandparents should help more in raising their grandchildren.
2. Noun Clause ifadeleri cümleden atılamazken Adjective Clause ifadeleri rahatlıkla cümleden atılabilir ve bu bir gramer hatasına yol açmaz.
» I worry about the situation. ( that might cause conflict between sides.)
» I will show you the pictures of the town. (where I am from.)
» Could you tell me? (who stole your money?)
» I don’t know. (where he went after school.)

3. Noun Clause ifadeleri cümlede ÖZNE ya da NESNE konumunda kullanılabilir demiştik. Bundan dolayı; yüklem iki nesne alabilir durumda olmadıkça; NOUN Clause ifadeleri nesne konumunda kullanılırken kendisinden önce yüklem gelmektedir.
» I know that Latin is no longer spoken as a native language.
