Symptom

After installing Microsoft security updates, the following issues are encountered in the EPM Add-in (10.X) and BPC for Excel (7.X) products:

l 'Edit Report' is greyed out l Context options are greyed out l The EPM pane shows no connection for current report l Refreshingthereporthasnoeffect l Journal options are greyed out

Cause

l The following Microsoft security updates have been installed: MS14-081: Security update for Microsoft Office 2010 (2899518) MS14-081: Security update for Microsoft Word 2010 (2899519) MS14-082: Security update for Microsoft Office 2007 (2596927) MS14-082: Security update for Microsoft Office 2010 (2553154) MS14-082: Security Update for Microsoft Office 2013 (2726958) MS14-083:SecurityupdateforMicrosoftExcel2007(2984942) MS14-083: Security update for Microsoft Excel 2010 (2910902) MS14-083:SecurityupdateforMicrosoftExcel2013(2910929)

l This issue is an unintended side-effect of these security updates that disable ActiveX controls and is not specific to any particular SAP product.

Resolution

l Microsofthasidentifiedaknownissuewiththesesecurityupdates(seebelow)andhasprovidedaresolutioninarticleKB 3025036. l Please follow the steps in this article (KB 3025036) to resolve this issue. l If the issue persists, please uninstall these security updates using the following Microsoft How to Guide: Remove an update.
