Reel Therapy and Mental Health

Cinema therapy is simply the use of an entire film or a film clip of certain movie scenes used as an indirect tool within psychotherapy.

• The psychotherapist recommends the movie• The client watches it at home /office, keeping certain questions in mind• The client and therapist discuss the experiences in the next session.

Movies engage various facets of the human mind, including

• cognitive• auditory• visualall the while simultaneously processing the plot and dialogues of the film in

real-time. This is in stark contrast to reading a book, or listening to music.
