Digital Communications Officer

The Role

We are seeking a digitally savvy individual who can take responsibility and help shape the digital communications for this prestigious organisation. The Digital Communications Officer should act as a key player in the management of ENO’s public reputation and profile within social media networks and consumer communities. They will lead distinctive PR campaigns that publicise ENO’s productions to the widest possible audience. They will have a natural flair for telling engaging stories across a variety of channels and take an active interest in the wider news agenda.

Digital Communications OfficerReporting to: Head of Media

To be responsible for the way in which ENO’s artistic output is represented through online and social media communities by devising imaginative PR campaigns that raise ENO’s profile and engage audiences across online and social media platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Delivering creative PR campaigns Create and deliver imaginative media strategies to promote ENO’s productions and

generate coverage to engage target audiences with agreed key messages Work closely with the digital marketing manager on the creation of campaign and

social advertising content Co-ordinate promotional activity with colleagues in the ENO Marketing team in order to

maximise synergy across the two disciplines Create and deliver content for the ENO social media channels and the ENO website Identify tactical opportunities to promote ENO and its work Work closely with Press Officer, Customer Services and other marketing teams to

ensure potential issues and customer themes are fed back to the business and dealt with appropriately, quickly and consistently across all channels

Deliver weekly analytics and report on key metrics – bringing meaningful insights back into the business around the development and engagement of social communities.

Ensure integration of marketing campaigns across all social media channels

Content Creation Comfortable working alongside creative teams and content teams to populate ongoing

editorial calendars Research, identify and brief influencers to create content Create compelling content campaigns with a view to placing them on major online

publications (such as Mashable and Huffington Post)

Working with senior ENO staff and artists Manage interviews and photo shoots with talent and senior ENO staff Brief senior ENO staff and artists with agreed key messages Work with ENO Baylis and ENO’s Casting Department to devise ways to promote the

company’s work in learning, participation and talent development.

ENO Press Office support Act as an ENO spokesperson when appropriate, and develops lines against enquiry to

be used when questioned by members of the press and online communities. Help to run media and cultivation events Assist with the creation of press materials to the highest standards in line with ENO’s

messages and values

Co-ordinate press night activity, including media and blogger attendance, press drinks and dress rehearsal photography

Carry out other tasks set by the Head of Media as required

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Requirements

Relevant experience working in a press office or digital PR team, including a proven track record in helping to shape and deliver high profile PR campaigns

A strong understanding of digital media and knowledge of key contacts A creative, imaginative thinker with the ability to identify various angles and news hooks,

tailoring digital content for different media outlets and audiences A confident individual, able to brief senior staff members and artists, including high-profile

singers, directors and artists An excellent communicator, able to demonstrate you can write and speak articulately and

enthusiastically In-depth knowledge of good practice in social media, and an ability to write engaging copy

and create distinctive content for a variety of platforms Collaborative team player who is highly organised and to is able work under own initiative

to meet strict deadlines across a number of simultaneous projects An ability to keep calm under pressure Awareness of the UK cultural environment with a good understanding of the performing

arts Proven track-record for maximising relationships to create on-going digital content SEO experience and best practice

Desirable Requirements

Experience of working for an opera, classical music and/or theatre press office or PR agency

Knowledge of working with media monitoring software (such as Gorkana), PR distribution services (such as Vuelio) and social media monitoring dashboards (such as Hootsuite)

Knowledge of the blogger space, knowledge of the different nuances across different sectors and how to maximise the opportunity of working with social media influencers of all levels.

Writing briefs and press-releases should be second nature Clear understanding of the etiquette of pitching ideas across different platforms e.g.

Twitter Experience in reputational management and how to best mobilise influencers to protect

and dilute negative conversations Be at the forefront of social trends; case studies, client requirements and latest supporting

platforms Demonstrate experience in reporting on campaigns or one-off pieces of content creation Knowledge of working with video and photography packages, such as First Cut Pro, Adobe

Photoshop and/or Adobe Premiere Pro
