Since the Initiation of Soil Health Card Scheme, farmers have become aware of the importance of Soil testing & have learnt to gain benefit at lower cost of production. The living example of which is the farmers of village Pathri IV of Block-Bahadrabad, District-Haridwar. In a Krishak Goshti organized in 2015-16 by department a farmer Shri Jagdish Singh Rawat of the village complained that he was having loss in agriculture and also reported regarding the loss of fertility of soil due to adoption of some crop cycle. After this the departmental team surveyed his fields and drew sampled from his 4 hac. land and provided him with recommendation of plant nutrients on soil health card for paddy. The recommendation for paddy Pusa-1509 as per soil test report were as follows-

1- Compost-65 qtl/ha.

2-Nitrogen-99.36 Kg/ha.

3- Phosphorus- 59.8 Kg/ha.

4-Potassium-52.2 Kg/ha.

He was also suggested regarding alternate cropping sequences in which sowing of pulses and oil seeds was encouraged. As a result of which the average yield of paddy was recorded as 55 qtl. per ha. which was earlier 35-40 qtl./ha. his success encouraged other famers of the village to adopt soil testing based fertilizer recommendation and a total of 550 farmers of the village were provided with soil health cards and fertility maps of the whole village were prepared. Today it can be said that the village Pathri is 100 % saturated under soil health card and the famers of the village have adopted Integrated nutrient management. As a result the cost on fertilizer has reduced up to 20% and production has increased 15 to 20 %.
