Provide a range of Outcomes-focussed interventions for young people who are, at point of referral (or subsequently), either Looked After or deemed to be at risk of becoming Looked After. Predominantly 1:1 interventions with young people aged 12-16, but also group-work and work with

Better study support in schools and more structured support system in schools. Emphasis on study sessions and making these widely available in all schools. Ensuring that in early education, children are not behind on their learning and identifying why if they are then giving them the support to achieve academic qualifications rather than leaving it until S4 and leaving them without any qualifications. Increased use of things like GLOW or other systems that allow teachers and pupils to communicate in a formal environment when out of school so that help is available eg snow days, illness, study leave.

Good study support part of this – ensure pupils are confident they have access to the help they need and that this help makes a difference to their learning. Cross-curricular communication on different teaching methods so that pupils who have different learning styles all get an opportunity to learn in a way that suits them eg not just pencil and paper. Finding ways to motivate young people in learning, rewarding learning that is not necessarily in the classroom eg extra curricular or ASDAN accreditation etc. Tackling truancy and bad behaviour and finding positive ways to overcome these problems.
