Tips to keeping safe from Scams:

Join the Telephone and Mail Preference Services.Be aware of the dangers of email and phishing tactics.Watch loved ones for changes in lifestyle or unusual financial activity.Be alert to ‘new friends’.Never provide personal information in a call that you did not initiate.Ensure that any charities you are donating to have a registered charity number.Ensure that you never disclose your PIN to anyone. Shred documents containing sensitive information.

More than seven out of ten older people in Britain (over 6.6 million people) are targeted by scams every month (Help the Aged/Barclays 2008 Report)

Data collected for the 2012/2013 financial year by the National Fraud Authority estimates that £1.5 billion of losses were suffered by older people (National Fraud Authority (NFA). Annual Fraud Indicator (AFI) 2013)
