Maths:This week we are going to be focusing on subtraction, it might have been a while since you completed some addition calculations so let’s recap: Subtraction = take away, less, fewerWhen we subtract two numbers from one another we always end up with an answer smaller than the original starting number.Today we are going to be subtracting multiples of 10 to any 2digit number. Remember: You can put the biggest number in your head and subtract in 10s or you could draw tens and ones (using sticks and dots) and and take away the multiple of ten by crossing out the number of sticks.

74 - 10 = 77 - 50= 92 - 70 =

86 - 30 = 81 - 20 = 53 - 40 =

Now try these two problems: John buys 67 sweets at the shop. He gives 30 to his friend Sam. How many does John have left?

Rebecca has 85 shells. She gives 10 to her friend and 10 to her mum. How many shells does Rebecca have left?
