Grammar Job titles are nouns eg doctor, teacher, janitor, etc. Can you make a list of job-related nouns (for extra challenge can you find some unusual job titles eg paleogeologist) and then put an adjective (describing word) in front of each job in the list? Can you make it relate to the job? Eg The health-conscious fitness trainer. Aim for at least 10 jobs.
Writing This week I would like you to do some personal writing. The Title of your writing is:
My dreams, hopes and aspirations for the future
What goals do you have for the future? What job would you like when you leave school? (You
should consider what skills you might need for this. What skills do you already have and what new skills might you need? What subjects would you need to study at High School to help with this?)
Do you want to go to college, university or take up an apprenticeship?
Would you like to have a gap year after school where you do overseas voluntary work and see a bit of the world?
What kind of hobbies would you like to take up in the future?
What places would you like to visit? What kind of lifestyle would you like to have? (Would
you like to have your own house, car, etc? What things would you like in your house? How are you going to make sure you have enough money for all the things you need/ want?)

What is a C.V.?
A C.V. is a formal document used to detail a person’s skills, qualifications and experience.
What does it stand for?
C.V. stands for Curriculum Vitae. This is a Latin expression, which can be roughly translated as ‘the course of my life’.
What else does it include?
Usually, a C.V. will include a summary of personal information such as name, address and contact details. It will also detail any educational background, such as schools, college or university attended.
When would you use a C.V.?
The main occasion for using a C.V. is when applying for a new job or position. The C.V. is a way of describing and promoting yourself and your relevant details in the best possible way to an employer.
What could you include on a school C.V.?
Your qualifications might include results from any exams you have achieved. Have you completed any other type of qualification or received certificates while at school (e.g. sports, music, cycling, competitions, merit awards, trophies)? These could be from in or out of school.
Your experiences at school might include trips, visits, topics studied. Have you been a part of any teams or clubs? Have you attended any extra-curricular activities before, during or after-school? Maybe you have been involved in a class or school production, concert, or choir.
Your responsibilities may include doing any particular jobs or monitor roles, being a buddy or mentor in class or school. Have you worked as part of a group or team on any project?
Your skills are all the positive qualities about yourself that someone should know. You can use the vocabulary ideas below and any other great ways to describe yourself and your personality, using sentences.
See the table on the next page for some skills.

Who Stole the National Cup?
The Purple Football Club have just won The National Cup! It was an unexpected win and the team and subs have spent the night celebrating in an expensive hotel suite. However, they woke up the next morning to learn that someone has stolen The National Cup!
You are a detective and you have been called to the hotel to investigate the theft. You have taken the names and details of the 11 players and 6 substitutes. They were the only people in the hotel suite that night meaning they are all suspects. You have found five clues in the hotel suite. Solving each clue will allow you to eliminate some suspects until there is only one left, the thief!
Good luck!
