Kornel Makuszynski – Kornel Makuszyński was a Polish writer of children's and youth literature. He was born in 1884 and died 1953. In his early years he lived in Lviv, later he moved to Warsaw. He started writing at the age of 14. His children's books, particularly the series about the goat, Koziołek Matołek, have an enduring popularity in Poland. He is one of most famous Polish writers, his works had been translated into many other languages.

The book ‘Satan from seventh grade’ has been adapted to movie in 1960. Despite some minor changes movie is accurate adaptation and had been warmly welcomed by public.

This book is a classic in Poland, as it should be. It's witty, clever, and has an incredibly solid moral backbone. Not really a good vs. evil kind of story (the bad guys are to be sympathized with and well, there is the French guy), but the kind of story that carries a message of friendship, honesty, solidarity and bravery.’
