Theatre Terminology

Apron

________________ - Any type of scenery or material placed in back of an opening to mask the backstage area from the audience.

Backing

____________ - A long piece of wood or pipe at the top and bottom of a drop. A length of pipe, a part of a counter-weight system to which a drop or other scenic and lighting units or equipment are attached.

Baton

Blacks

Box Set

____________ - Usually a u-shaped expanse of light blue or white canvas used for sky effects. May also be a permanent feature of the stage or simply a drop
