LETTER TO THE EDITOR

In response to Jim Montgomerys article would like to set the record straight

I left because the Executive Conunittee would no longer permit sponsorship which applied to only a given catergory Both Bella and Italia Velo Sport sponsored four specific atheletes not the veteran category of NCVC Ask Paul Didier Frank Pederson or Gunter Thomas how much support they received for the last two years from either of the two so called Veterans sponsors The 1983 Executive Conunittee which included Jim Montgomery gave the Super Four a choice Share or leave They LEFT The only success the club as a whole had for the last five years were IBM and Greenbelt which gave the members more as a whole than either of the so called veterans sponsors The loyal category III riders left for what they believe is a better deal its as simple as that our only() int=rnational caliber memberTom Chew left because we cannot afford to support any athelete who is aiming for the US Olympic team For example NCVC s-- ))udget for the April races is $500 Tom needed at least $300 in January just as a starter Tom is very grateful for all the help NCVC has given to him in the last two years and understands the situation at least that is what he told me Besides how come Jim is so interested in Ncvr international racers last year he had a racer who competed at the World and Pan Am championships The Pan Am Commonwealth and USSRs Sparket games and he could only make Jims B team after proving with results that he was as qood as anyone in NCVC coaches should be judged by the success of their team I aggree look what a great job the womens team did last year two women in the top Ten of the national criterium championships two women in the top twenty of the National Super Prestiege two women in the top ten of the Self Series East What did the mens team do in 1983 and who coached them Team managers should be judged by the benefits derived by the team NO COMMENT on tht one or I miqht loose a friend

what measures ot success do you set for yourself Mike Butler and Ken Jacobson I thought the club was run by the Executive Committee elected by the membership re shyacting to the demands of 111 membersllJt- I cant speak for Ken but I am sure that he would aggree with me when I say our measure of success is the satisfaction of at least 95 of the membershipas the Team Director my measure of success will be a 98 satisfaction rate in the distribution of sponsorship as a matter of fact the March 2nd meeting is to have as many team members give their input into the goals and the fair distribution of sponsorship as well as the rules and expectations of the racing teams in doing so I hope you will not forget that it is the people in the club that should come fir s t as oppose to who~the bicycles who is coming first with the 1983 Team Director and club Coach If I have (FOR THE LAST TEN(10) YEARS) been putting anyone other than the people in the club first I sure dont know who it is If I as President Vice-President Membership Chairmanor Team Director had any personal gains it sure didt buy the groceries

If NCVC members are unhappy and the do not communicate to anyone other than other unhappy members it will not solve anything This club is run by the Executive Conunittee If no one knows about it how can they fix it So the only one to blame for the unhappy members are the unhappymembers themselves if quitting the club solves their problem then I am happy for them The Executive Committee gets nothing out of this we do not win prizes for the time we put into this club and re this club its hard just getting a plain ole Thank you Hey we all got to do what we got to do

MIKE BUTLER

IIUYAIlLIN TIHI TIHII Bile W1HIIElLIII Bye bye Andy Gallatlyit was fun having you you brought NCVC another champion and we thank you Goodluck with SRCRaleighLevi Welcome to Mike Zoeller hope your success continue to improve here in the Washington area with the number one club on the East coast bullbullbullbull Gordy What are y bullbull you going to do good buddy bullbull Whats all this mess about the club going back five years I was hoping it would be set back 6 or 7 years when we had Tom Prehn Ian Jackson Joe Saunders tee Slaughter bros come on whats a few Senior III riders whod rather switch than fight or four Vets who would rather keep it all than share NCVC moves on as a matter of fact NCVC moves on with pride bullbullbullbullbull so there bullbullbullbullbullbull Hell I handt had anything this spicey since I dont know when bullbullbullbullbullbull I SURE HOPE that you were at the racers meeting on March 2nd (yes it was in boyh thats both the Washington Post Weekend section and in 2 different places in the Velo Voice bullbullbull You know maybe we should stop giving out Rider of the year awards for it always seems like a graduation award bullbullbullbull with the exception of Jim Montgomery and Gordy Holterman every other ROY left the nexxt oops 1 x bullbullbullbull but one good thing they went on to bigger and better things Hey how about showing our Sponsors some gratitude by visiting their establishment and better yet buy something bullbullbullbull Metroshypolis will e even give you a 10 discount Why is it that some members think that $12 a year intitles them to the world bull or some others think $12 is too much hey $12 is a bloody good deal of course the club doesnt or wouldnt make anyshything if it werent for Shawn Brooks $12 just covers barely covers the cost of the Newsletter bullbullbull and besides if you dont pay some club $12 or more youd have to to pay double entry at open races bullbullbull so if you want to help out recruit some members

well looks like NCVC might L in trouble for if rumours are correct College Park Bike shop will be sponsoring Greenbelt for College Park Bicycle club and Whole Wheel Bicycle club will take Tysonmiddots Corner bullbullbullbullbullbullbullbull OK people we need a training race dont let NCVC be a Farm club for club races too bullbull Loosing training races will hurt a lot more than loosing HOT SHOt racers bullbullbullbullbullbullbullbull Yes it is true YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PURCHASE YOUR CLUB JERSEY OR JERSIES FROM YOUR SPONSORS as soon as they arrive

MIKE BUTLER

IIUYAIlLIN TIHI TIHII Bile W1HIIElLIII Bye bye Andy Gallatlyit was fun having you you brought NCVC another champion and we thank you Goodluck with SRCRaleighLevi Welcome to Mike Zoeller hope your success continue to improve here in the Washington area with the number one club on the East coast bullbullbullbull Gordy What are y bullbull you going to do good buddy bullbull Whats all this mess about the club going back five years I was hoping it would be set back 6 or 7 years when we had Tom Prehn Ian Jackson Joe Saunders tee Slaughter bros come on whats a few Senior III riders whod rather switch than fight or four Vets who would rather keep it all than share NCVC moves on as a matter of fact NCVC moves on with pride bullbullbullbullbull so there bullbullbullbullbullbull Hell I handt had anything this spicey since I dont know when bullbullbullbullbullbull I SURE HOPE that you were at the racers meeting on March 2nd (yes it was in boyh thats both the Washington Post Weekend section and in 2 different places in the Velo Voice bullbullbull You know maybe we should stop giving out Rider of the year awards for it always seems like a graduation award bullbullbullbull with the exception of Jim Montgomery and Gordy Holterman every other ROY left the nexxt oops 1 x bullbullbullbull but one good thing they went on to bigger and better things Hey how about showing our Sponsors some gratitude by visiting their establishment and better yet buy something bullbullbullbull Metroshypolis will e even give you a 10 discount Why is it that some members think that $12 a year intitles them to the world bull or some others think $12 is too much hey $12 is a bloody good deal of course the club doesnt or wouldnt make anyshything if it werent for Shawn Brooks $12 just covers barely covers the cost of the Newsletter bullbullbull and besides if you dont pay some club $12 or more youd have to to pay double entry at open races bullbullbull so if you want to help out recruit some members

well looks like NCVC might L in trouble for if rumours are correct College Park Bike shop will be sponsoring Greenbelt for College Park Bicycle club and Whole Wheel Bicycle club will take Tysonmiddots Corner bullbullbullbullbullbullbullbull OK people we need a training race dont let NCVC be a Farm club for club races too bullbull Loosing training races will hurt a lot more than loosing HOT SHOt racers bullbullbullbullbullbullbullbull Yes it is true YOU WILL BE ABLE TO PURCHASE YOUR CLUB JERSEY OR JERSIES FROM YOUR SPONSORS as soon as they arrive

you will be notified by NEWSLETTER or you could start making some calls by March 15th ALPINE CYCLES have some from Last year with this year sponsors that will be going at a very good price soon No not the same as last year but the good ones that never went on sale bullbullbullbullbullbullbullbullbullbullbullbull

How about that MOSER how about the cost of his bikeO~ $35000 wow it must be worth it because he broke the hour record and some twice in the same month bullbullbull of course he acknowledges that if EDDY had the same bike his record would still be in existance ten years from now bullbullbullbull Well if all goes well NCVC will have an OLYMPIC GAME6 athelete who will be riding an ALPINE in LA Aubrey is in Guyana showing what he learned in America and from NCVC bullbullbullbull he is expected back in the US in March and is expected to ride the Points race and the road race in LA GOODLUCK Fella I am sure mostb most of us are behind you bullbullbullbullbullbullbullbull HAVE YOU HEARD(this should have really been my openinglbut yep we have another Kelley with an e in our club Mr Alex Kelley born to Chris and Fred on February 13thbullbullbullbullbullbull Congrats and Welcome bullbullbullbullbull Tell me what
