Senior Facilities Assistant at Forth Sector

Forth Sector exists to provide employment support to people in Edinburgh who experience long term health conditions. We do this by the provision of Employment Support Services (all in Edinburgh) and though our supported business – St Jude’s Laundry which employs over 40 people with long term health conditions.As part of our ongoing development we wish to recruit a Senior Facilities Assistant to support the provision of day-to-day maintenance and upkeep to our complex at Duddingston Yards, Edinburgh.

The role will include all aspects of property maintenance including, but not restricted to: general outside maintenance including gardening, clearing up litter and leaves, repairs to fencing and internal maintenance: overseeing maintenance visits by external contractors, ensuring internal maintenance is carried out routinely, checking Health & Safety risk assessments are up to date and compliant.

It is a requirement of the role that the successful applicant is able to undertake moderately demanding, physical work, involving standing up and moving around. There will be some lifting of heavy items although manual handling training will be provided.

This post is permanent for 21 hours per week to be worked on a rota annual hours basis. Flexibility will be required to cover annual leave of colleagues. You will be expected to work during the opening hours which will fluctuate during the summer period and as we grow our business.

The post holder will also provide supervisory support to the Facilities Team. Experience in working as part of a team and of leading teams is essential for this role. Training in supervision processes will be provided.
