Ankara is not only the administrativecenter of Turkey, it is the heart of policymaking, education, health,trade and technology. It is also home to many foreign embassies, international institutions and companies.

Anıtkabir, where is the final resting place of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of Turkish Republic, represents the respect of Turkishpeople to their savior. Located on Rasattepe, Anıtkabir reflects the grandiosity of modern architecture. The Atatürk and IndependenceWar Museum inside Anıtkabir gives visitors the chance to witness how a nation was born.

Ankara has a continental climate. Cold and snowy winters are followed by hot and dry summers. Daytime temperatures in August occasionally hit 40°C. Nightly temperatures in the summer months can be as cool as 13°C. July and August are the hottest months with almost zero precipitation while April and May record the highest rainfall. Snowfall is common from November to March.

Visiting Ankara between November and March calls for a good insulated coatand winter boots. T-shirt and shorts will be su�cient for visitors coming between June and August. Nights and other months require a windbreaker.

Hamamönü, which is a place reflecting traditions of the Ottoman Empire and Turkish Republic, is a unique place worth to see. There are mosques, Turkish baths, museums, and parks.

It’s a street located in Kavaklıdere district of Ankara-Çankaya. There are shops, restaurants, cafés, and businesses on the street where young people are interested. It is considered one of the important centers of social life in Ankara. Kuğulu Park is also on this street.

Beypazarı is a town located about 100 km west of Ankara. In the Ottoman period, Beypazarı was a military base and was important for the local economy. Its carrots and mineral water are very famous. There are some museums, old buildings and many sights to see and to have a pleasant picnic.

Ankara Citadel, originally built as a garrison, has hosted several civilizations throughout thehistory. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ankara as it is home to several museums including Anatolian Civilizations Museum,old Ankara houses, mosques and other historical sights. It’s also possible to taste local delicaciesand buy traditional Turkish handcrafts in the citadel as most of the old Ankara houses located in theinner castle walls have been converted to restaurants and gift stores.

Eymir Lake located within the borders of Ankara, is one of the most beautiful recreation areas where people living in this region and those living in nearby provinces can spend their weekend holidays. Eymir Lake and its surroundings provide a verysuitable area for various activities such as rowing,water sports, fishing and picnic.
