What is Levan?
Levan is a naturally occurring bio-polymer – a polyfructose. Levan molecules are formed from sucrose by an enzymatic process. Typically structured as β-2,6 carbon atom bonds, they are in fact edible, prebiotic fibers, appearing as a whitish, slightly viscous solution.Efficacy & uniqueness of these fibers are derived from their structure & MW distribution.Combining low & high MW, Levan performs as an outstanding film-forming Humectant.
Levan – 2 , 6 bonds
Inulin 1,2 bonds
Levan – Production process & Safety
Production process: enzymatic conversion of sugar. Conducted under strict GMP conditions.
Enzyme: Non-GMO, Infoxgen compliance; certificated European enzyme manufacturer; enzymatic process doesn't require growth medium; culture is not involved in the production of levan.
Contamination control: Pasteurization at the end of the process.
Preservation: Potassium Sorbate.
INCI name / 28-30% Levan: Levan/Fructose/Glucose/Sucrose (and) Citrate Buffer
Composition: Levan fiber, sugars, buffering agent, sorbate.
Non-Irritation / Dermatology Tested Certified: Checked up to 10% conc. in body cream
formulations/ as ingredient in direct contact with skin.

Clinical Research : Levan Efficacy vs hyaluronic acid
Clinical Research
Clinical assessmentThe following examinations will be performed at baseline (T0), before using the materials, And at the end of the test (T1), after four weeks of using the materials:
Visual skin assessment by the investigator in a scale of 0 – 5, with reference to wrinkles appearance, wrinkles’ surface area and depth.
Measurements:Hydration level by Corneometer, Courage & Khazaka, CK. constant pressure on skin/ hydrationmeasurements. TEWL (the ability not to harm the skin barrier) by Tewameter TM 300, Courage & Khazaka, CK. Measurement will be recorded after stabilization of the curve of the results in real time.
PhotographyColor photography by Visioface 1000 D, Courage & Khazaka, CK from the front and the sides of the face
Wrinkle analysisSelected wrinkles’ area will be analyzed by Visioface 1000 D, Courage & Khazaka, CK.
