Practical information

Bergen Railway station:If you start your round trip by train from Bergen, the trains depart from Bergen Railway station. You can choose to travel by either a local train or a regional train. Seat reservation is required on NSB regional trains. Seat reservation is not necessary for individual travellers on local trains Bergen-Voss-Myrdal. Reservation is required for your departure on the Flåm Railway from Myrdal to Flåm or vice versa.

Oslo Railway station:If you start your round trip from Oslo, the trains depart from Oslo Central railway station and take you to Myrdal railway station on the Bergen line. You will travel by regional trains and seat reserva-tion is required. Reservation is required for your departure on the Flåm Railway from Myrdal to Flåm or vice versa.

Voss Railway station:The bus to/from Gudvangen arrives and departs from Voss Railway station. Change from train to bus or vice versa. Please look for the bus with the Gudvangen/ Norway in a nutshell® sign.

Myrdal Railway station:Change trains for the Flåm Railway. The cafeteria is open from May to September. Souvenir shop,waiting room and toilet facilities are available at the station.

Flåm Railway station:The Fjord boat terminal is situated next to the railway station and the tourist boat / fjord boat for Norway in a nutshell® departs from pier no. 1.

In Flåm, there are restaurants, cafeterias, souvenir shops, post office. Accommodation - Fretheim Hotel, Flåmsbrygga Hotel, Heimly Pension and camping/apartments. Free entrance to the Flåm Railway museum.

Gudvangen:The buses for the Norway in a nutshell® tour park next to the harbour and connect with the tourist boat /fjord boat. Please look for the bus with the Voss/ Norway in a nutshell® sign in the harbour area.

Departure from Bergen starting by train: Train from the Bergen Railway station. Seat reservation is required on NSB regional trains. No reservation is necessary for individual travellers on local trains. Change from train to bus at Voss Railway station.

Departure from Bergen starting by bus: The bus will depart from Bergen Busterminal, lane O. The bus for the round trip will have a sign for Bergen – Norheimsund.

Departure from Oslo: If you start your round trip by train from Oslo, the trains depart from Oslo Central railway station and take you to either Voss or Bergen. You will travel by regional trains and seat reservation is recommended on NSB regional trains.

Voss station: Transfer station from train to bus or vice versa. When arriving by train, it is only a few metres to the bus, which departs from just below the station building. The bus will have a sign marked Voss – Ulvik/Hardangerfjord.

Ulvik: Transfer from bus to boat or from boat to bus. The bus stops close to the quay and the passengers on board will be informed where to go for the fjord boat and the boat’s departing time. Travelling in the opposite direction, passengers on board the boat will be informed about the bus’s departure time and location before arriving at the quay. The bus will have a sign marked Ulvik – Voss.

Eidfjord: The boat stops at the quay in Eidfjord, and the tourists can choose whether to proceed directly to the sightseeing tour to the Hardangervidda Nature Centre and the Vøringsfossen waterfall or explore Eidfjord on their own. The boat departs from the quay after a three-hour stop in Eidfjord.

Lofthus: The boat stops at Lofthus. For passengers who have planned to stay overnight at the Hotel Ullensvang, the boat can stop at the quay by the hotel if the passenger informs the crew on the boat in advance. The boat may also collect passengers by this quay if the passenger informs the reception at the hotel in advance.

Norheimsund: The boat arrives at the quay in Norheimsund, where the bus is waiting to take them directly aboard and on to Bergen. The bus will have a sign marked Bergen. If starting from Bergen by bus, the quay in Norheimsund is the first point of transfer. The bus will drive down to the quay and the tourists will go directly on board the boat.

Bergen starting by boat:Rødne express boat departs from the Strandkaiterminal (located inthe centre of Bergen, just beside the Tourist Information).

Rosendal:The boat stops at the quay in Rosendal, and it is just a 10 minuteswalk to Norway’s only Barony. The bus further from Rosendal toOdda is departing from the quay and it has sign for Odda. Werecommend to stay overnight in Rosendal and experience more ofthe beautiful scenery there.

Odda:Transfer from bus to bus at Odda Bus station. The bus from Oddato Lofthus has sign for Eidfjord.

Lofthus:The bus stops at Lofthus and there is just 2-3 min. walk to the hotelfrom the bus stop. The express boat stops at Lofthus quay justbeside the Hotel Ullensvang.

Eidfjord:The boat stops at the quay in Eidfjord and the tourists proceeddirectly to the sightseeing tour to Hardangervidda Nature Centreand the Vøringsfossen waterfall. The boat departs from the quaywhen the sightseeing bus returns to the quay.

Ulvik:Transfer from boat to bus. Passengers on board the boat will beinformed about the bus’s departure time and location beforearriving at the quay. The bus will have a sign marked Ulvik-Voss.

Voss station:Transfer station from bus to train at the Voss Railway station. It isjust a few metres to go from bus to train.
