DO YOU WANT TO APPROACH

CHALLENGES MORE AGGRESSIVELY?

We are all made equal in that no one is blessed with a

problemfree life. Where we differ is in the kinds of prob-

lems we have, and especially in how we face our prob-

lems. Jesus' teachings provide direc6ves for a more ag-

gressive approach to life's challenges. If you, or anyone

you know, would like to hear more about how Jesus'

teachings help us to deal with the problems in our lives,

we invite you to join us at an Inquiry Session. Inquiry ses-

sions DO NOT assume a commitment to join the Catholic

Faith family. Inquiry sessions are opportuni6es to ask

ques6ons about God, Jesus, the Catholic Faith. All who are

unbap6zed, bap6zed into another faith denomina6on, or

bap6zed Catholic but have not received Eucharist or Con-

firma6on, are invited. Inquiry sessions are for those who

wish to inquire, explore, and search for ways to grow in

rela6onship with God. For more informa6on, call RCIA at

(7326344355).

Dear Parishioners,

After teaching us the “Our Father”, Which is the model for all

prayer, Jesus comments, "If you then, who are wicked, know how to

give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father in

heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?" Among these,

there is one, the great important thing, which Jesus tells us today in

the Gospel, but which we hardly ever consider, and it is the Holy Spir-

it. Jesus says, "If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good

gifts to your children, how much more will the Father in heaven give

the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?" How often do we pray to the

Spirit to help us live well, to live with wisdom, with love, doing the

will of God?

The Holy Spirit also renews the joys of our youth, in other

words, keeps us young at heart with a hope that does not give up

and never despairs. The Spirit moves us to do great things for God.

This summer we celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the Landing on the Moon. The Eagle lunar

lander, carrying Armstrong and Aldrin, landed on the Sea of Tranquility on July 20, 1969. Armstrong was the

first one out, proclaiming for the ages: “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” In his

book Return to Earth astronaut Buzz Aldrin recounts the surreal experience of walking on the moon, but

there is also a much darker piece. Upon returning to Earth, Aldrin experienced a deep depression that

eventually led to hospitalization. He was able to get back on his feet through the help of therapy and medi-

cation. How many today in their own personal odysseys , with the help of the Holy Spirit are taking small

steps that changes their world forever. One small step away from darkness, hatred, addictions, and other

evils, make all the difference in the world.

Wishing you happy journeys, Fr David
