THE BRIEF - Design for home textiles:

Your favourite home textiles store has approached you to create a beautiful design for their new range, which is all about promoting new design talent.

The brief is to select one of the following themes to work with:>> Colour Love>> Folk>> Geometric>> Florals>> Mark Making

First, take some time to really explore your chosen theme and have fun experimenting.

You will then need to start working your designs up to fit on one of the products below:>> Cushion>> Throw>> Bedding>> Table Runner>> Tablecloth

BRIEF REQUIREMENTS:

You will need to create: 1 mood board - present your initial inspiration and ideas. Try to express your passion for the theme you have chosen and the direction in which you want to take the design.1 notebook design1 product design as selected from the list above.1 overall collection board - show your full collection in an eye-catching composition. Really think about the layout and how you can best present your collection / you as a designer.We have provided some inspiration that caught our eye in the current market. But think about what you as a customer would be drawn to. Perhaps you could select your favourite stationery shop and design the collection for them?

ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS:

It is fine to use either Illustrator or Photoshop for this brief. Your mood board could also be made physically, as long as you can scan in the finished result. 1 x mood board - A3 size Product designs - source a template or create your own based on your research. 1 x Collection board - A3 size

PLEASE NOTE that the Creative Design Briefs are industry standard and are designed to give you practice at working to a professional design brief. In addition we hope they will help you to carve and create a professional portfolio which you are proud of.

As these are practice briefs please note the Make it in Design team will be unable to answer any questions you may have around the briefs. We would advise you use them as creative starting points and do feel free to adapt / think outside of the box with them.
