What’s so shocking about sugar?• Sugar adds an average of 16% of the calories in the

Standard American diet (Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2010)

Based on a 1,800- to 2,600-calorie diet, this equals 18 to 26 teaspoons of extra sugar a day

These extra calories from sugar may lead to:• Weight gain• Type 2 diabetes• Impaired immune system• Chronic diseases such as cancer & heart
