• Then the Hyksos (from Asia) fought Egypt and won (they had horse drawn chariot and stronger weapons) Hyksos ruled for 150 years.
• Prince Ahmose led people in Egypt to uprise and chase Hyksos out of Egypt

1473 - Queen Hatshepsut -very beautiful queen who wore mens clothing. She built up trade (traded wood) and she built lots of temples
Thutmose III -Conquered lands & enslaved people. Destroyed all of aunts temples that were built.1370 - Amenhotep IV-got rid of all gods except one called ATON. He was so focused on new god that he let other duties slide & he was attacked and conquered

New Kingdom-King Tut (Tutankhamen) -Most famous king because they found tomb in 1922 (mask) -only 10 years old when he took throne and he died at the age of 19 - Established old religion of many gods
1200 Ramses II -regained lands and rebuilt empire -rebuilt the spinx (lion body and person head) -had over 100 children
*Temples were houses for the gods and to store treasures*Most people prayed at home

Kush-2000 BC settlers in nubia
Kerma-powerful village that took over weaker villages. Strong warriors = strong army
Thutmose III (Egypt King in New Kingdom) attacked Kerma and won. Egypt controlled this area for 700 years
-850 BC Kush King (Kahasta) started battle with Egypt and his son finished the battle. VICTORY! Kush won and had control over Egypt once again
-600 BC Assyrians took over Egypt (Remember Sargon the Great)
*Kush moved out of reach of Assyrians to a new city called Monroe. *Monroe became a HUGE trade city
