by an SAG officer. Vendor rating:

 BACK EDUCATION

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. When back pain occurs, what is the first aid before going to the doctor? REST & RELAX

Rest does not mean sitting and watching TV. If you feel back pain (or) strain on the back, follow the following home care steps to reduce the pain.

Lie down in a comfortable position to relax your back muscles.

Lie on your back. Keep one or two pillows under the knees and keep your knees in 45 degree bent position (or) Lie flat on the floor with your knees bent and your feet elevated by placing them on a chair/ small desk top. These positions may help to reduce the pressure on the spinal joint and relieves the pain tremendously.

COLD/HOT APPLICATION Cold pack: Cold is an excellent pain reliever which is applied in the form of ice pack/frozen gel/ice massage. A simple, plastic bag, filled with ice, can serve as an ice pack. Towel or cloth soaked in cold water / ice cubes wrapped in a towel can be applied to bring comfort.

Note: Application of ice should not be more than ten minutes at a time, because skin may freeze, thus causing blisters. Better to use a thin towel between ice pack &the skin. Duration: 5 to 10 minutes for every 2 hours.

Hot Water: If ice causes allergy to you can give hot water fomentation. Application of heat is 10-15 minutes at a time for every couple of hours.

Q2. According to Physiotherapists, Rest is the best medicine’. How long do I have to take rest when back pain occurs? Definitely strict bed rest can help to relieve back pain. But may not speed healing. One or two days of bed rest, either position mentioned above would relieve pain.

Note: Don’t stay in the bed for more than three days unless your doctor advises. Too much of rest is counter-productive as it further tightens the tissues. Prolonged bed rest causes atrophy (Weakening) of the back muscle.

Q3. When back pain erupts, what are the symptoms that prompt me to see the doctor immediately? If back pain occurs with chest pain and any other

symptoms of heart attack. Sudden loss of bowel and bladder control. Difficult in standing and walking due to weakness in

leg muscles. New numbness in the buttocks / legs/ genital and rectal

area. Pain (acute) does not improve after a few days of home

care. If you have a dramatic increase in your chronic back

pain.

Q4.Usually back pain is common in elders, but even some children are also complaining about back pain often why? What is the remedy for them? Answer in next issue

Advantages of 5-Axis Machines

X-axis length of up to 12 m allowing a combination of solutions and division of working area for two numbers of Bogie frame setting up at a time

Wider options for milling of work pieces with complicated shapes/contours when compared with conventional horizontal boring and milling machines because of 5 axis machining

As the machine table is fixed and linear axis movement is through the Gantry column, less vibration on work and thus machined components are more accuracy and better surface finish

Angular milling/drilling in any angle can be possible with reference to horizontal or vertical or oblique plane

Machining on 5 sides ( 4 lateral side and 1 top side ) can be possible with single setting up of work component

Shorter milling time when compared with 3 Axis machine

Self-gripping system of tool clamping enables reduction in total machining time

Continuous control in 5 axes

Continuous rotary axis for locking in any position

Modular design for Higher milling productivity
