different scientific phenomena by asking questions, making logical predictions, planning investigations, and recording data.

SPI 0507. Inq.1: Select an investigation that could be used to answer a specific question.

The purpose of this lesson is to use Isaac Newton’s 3 laws of motion to help student understand how things move and the laws that govern all movement.

MATHMETICIAN AND ASTRONOMER

Isaac Newton was walking in his garden when he was struck by an apple that fell from his apple tree. This event led Sir Isaac Newton to explore gravity. This exploration

led to the 3 laws of motion. These 3 laws govern all movement.

From his apple falling due to gravity theory, he concluded that, "Whatever goes up, must come down!"

Newton stated his first law of motion as, "An object is in motion wants to stay in motion, and an object at rest wants to stay in rest."

OTHER FACTS ABOUT NEWTON:

Recent dates tell the birth date of Sir Isaac Newton as 4th of January 1643 and he died on 31st March 1727.

Newton was just 26, when he became a professor of math.

Men were able to explore the moon based on Newton’s discovery of planets and the speed of light.

ANSWERS

1. ISAAC NEWTON WAS SITTING IN HIS ORCHARD WHEN AN APPLE FELL FROM HIS TREE.

2. THE FIRST LAW IS CALLED THE LAW OF INERTIA WHICH STATES, “AN OBJECT WILL REMAIN AT REST OR MAINTAIN A SPECIFIC COURSE UNLESS AN OBJECT OR FORCE CHANGES IT COURSE”.

2. THE SECOND LAW STATES, “THE STRENGTH OF AN OBJECT IS EQUALLED TO MASS * FORCE”.

3. FOR EVERY ACTION THERE IS AN OPPOSITE REACTION.
