We’ve missed you! So much has happened in this past year since we put out our last newsletter in July of 2007! Our growth has been phenomenal and is the work of the Holy Spirit himself through so many of you, his little warriors, who have started prayer groups, handed out materials, or just spread the word about this powerful devotion. We are now teaching and ministering in 33 countries! To all of you, our heartfelt thanks, the most profound blessings of the Precious Blood of Jesus and a very Happy 3rd Birthday!

The Holy Spirit has been moving powerfully through some of the suggestions we have received from our devotees. We will now be able to offer our retreats by phone!Using our conference call system, you will be sent a packet when you sign up which will contain all the booklets and instructions you need plus the times for you to dial in and attend live (continued page 8)

The shipment of Agonizing Crucifixes arrived and we are assembling, sanding, painting and packing them and beginning to ship! We now have them in three languages, English, Latin and Spanish! We also have the wood of the Crucifixes made from your choice of virgin American pine or olivewood from the Holy Land! At 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 28th, in the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls in Rome, Pope Benedict XVI solemnly opened the Pauline Year celebrating the 2000th anniversary of the birth of St. Paul, the Apostle to the Gentiles. In celebration of this event, the Vatican has granted a plenary indulgence for all those who fulfill the requirements of Confession, Communion and prayers for the Holy Father’s intentions “in total

detachment from sin.” The faithful must also either: Make a pilgrimage to St. Paul Outside the Walls in Rome and pray for the Holy Father’s intentions at the altar of confession, invoking the Blessed Mother and St. Paul, or, the Catholic faithful can obtain the indulgence by participating with devotion in any local church in a liturgy or other public event in honor of St. Paul, in any sacred place on the opening and/or closing days of the jubilee year, or on other days in (continued on page 9)

By Mr. Oscar I. Delgado, President, Board of Directors of the Association First, I would personally like to thank many of you for your powerful prayer support during the 31-day preparation for the unveiling of Our Lady of the Sign – Ark of Mercy. Standing nine feet tall and weighing 700 pounds this is the largest monstrance in the world. The unveiling and blessing was carried live on EWTN on May 31st at 5pm central time during the Mass of the Visitation celebrated by Francis Cardinal George and attended by over 1500 faithful. We have a new name! At the request of and under the wise guidance of our Bishop, His Excellency, John H. Ricard, SSJ, we have changed our name. We are no longer the Apostolate of the Precious Blood, we are now the Association of the Precious Blood. We have done this under obedience and with his blessing to hopefully stop the confusion and separate ourselves from the other groups that have sprung up around the US, many who chose names very similar to ours and whose activities in many cases, we do not support.

Many of you have noticed the richness of the text in our new pocket-sized prayer book released last August. The text has been returned to its original form that was approved under the Nihil Obstat. The publishing company that printed our first book made numerous changes to the text and we had no control over what they were doing. Our Apostolate’s name is still listed as the author of this altered version that they continue to sell. However, during our court case against them, they removed all of our contact information from the book and replaced it with the name of a woman in Texas and a gift shop in Kentucky. We can no longer recommend that version of our book because of the numerous errors and changes the publisher has made to our text. We will be releasing our “Complete Devotion to the Precious Blood” soon which will replace that altered book. A serious error we need to advise our readers about is in the most recent copy they have come out with. This contains the (continued on page 7)

For a $30 or more donation for our work in spreading this devotion to the world, we are offering you a choice of free gifts! We have blessed St. Christopher or St. Michael the Archangel scapulars on a short loop that fits over the rear-view mirror in your car or hangs nicely from a hotel or guestroom doorknob. Great also for protecting teenage drivers! St. Christopher is the patron Saint of travelers and St. Michael is the patron of battle (especially spiritual warfare) and strength against temptations. Both scapulars have been touched to first class relics of the Rock of Calvary, a Rock from St. John’s Cave of the Apocalypse on Patmos Island, and a Rock from the Cave of St. Michael in Monte Gargano, Italy! It is our prayer that these powerful intercessors will watch over you during the fun and relaxation you will be enjoying this summer and during your travels all year long. May God bless you and send His angels to travel with you!

You and your prayer group can now join us in our chapel, live, for our Third Friday Reparationsfrom your own home or chapel! Use of our telephone conference room is free but you may incur long distance charges for placing the call to reach it. For August, you can listen and learn, pray and follow along with all the prayers and songs the way Our Lord gave them. We will be using our “Precious Blood of Jesus Daily Devotional” prayer book, the Douay-Rheims Bible, St. Alphonsus Ligouri’s Stations of the Cross and the messages. All texts will be available on our website, free! Call in at (712) 432 -1601 and enter the code 499260#. You will be announced when you enter the room, so please call approximately 15 minutes before we begin or anytime during the break, so as not to disturb our prayer.August 15th, 9:00am – 3:00pm (break 12 -12:30pm) September 19th, Noon – 6:00pm (break 3 - 3:30pm) All times are Eastern Standard Time. We look forward to praying with you!

In a spirit of loving penance we will begin our 144 day novena for the Release from Ancestral Curses for all our family members and priests (page 100 in our prayerbook). This novena will run from August11th (St. Clare) to New Year’s Day (Mary, Mother of God). This includes the bondage of secret societies, freemasonry, witchcraft and all ties and curses made by our forefathers and relatives on our lives!

Fr. Evaristus Eshiowu, FSSP, has blessed with the Latin exorcism blessing, a good quantity of water and salt for our devotees. This we are offering free of charge to all who ask. Please include a donation to cover the cost of both the shipping and the water bottle. The salt, water & Father’s blessing are all our gift to you!

By Fr. Evaristus Eshiowu, FSSP All the lovers of the new devotion to the Precious

Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, like myself, are in agreement that it is really a great gift from Heaven for our time. The beautiful prayers are full of expressive theology of the mysteries and Redemptive power of the Precious Blood of our Savior. While the protestant Christians, the Pentecostals and Evangelists in particular, are accustomed to invoking the “Blood of Jesus” for protection against evil spirits and their agents, this devotion emphasizes the essential need to adore this effective instrument of our Redemption. The Church had always celebrated the feast of the Precious Blood as a first class feast on July 1st

in the old liturgical calendar. But the feast was unfortunately subdued in the Vatican II liturgical reform. In other words the devotion, as it was given to Barnabas, the visionary from Nigeria, is new, but basically it is an old devotion in the Church. Hence we have a number of Congregations of men and women devoted to the Precious Blood. The Raccolta has several prayers and devotions to the Precious Blood listed in its collections.

Propagation of the New Devotion Whereas our beloved devotion is old in the Church, the Lord Jesus Christ, in several messages and visions, made it clear to Barnabas that this devotion must be propagated throughout the world. In the Consecration Prayer to the Precious Blood, we make the following commitment to the Lord “Ipromise Thee, with the help of Thy grace and to the utmost of my strength, to stir up and foster devotion to Thy Precious Blood, the price of our redemption, so that Thy adorable Blood may be honored and glorified by all.” This statement rings in the heart of every fervent devotee as it does in my own, each time I recite the prayer. In reaction to it, after my Consecration in 2003 by Fr. Boniface Onah, Barnabas’ Spiritual Director, I decided to bring the devotion to my dear friends in the United States of America who have always shared everything good for salvation with me. This was the beginning of my search for a publisher for the prayer book in the United States. The search brought me into contact with Queenship Publishers in Santa Barbara, California. After a series of discussions, they agreed to publish the original Nigerian prayerbook under a contract signed between them and me. The Nigerian Apostolate of the Precious Blood was duly informed of the contract. However, while this negotiation (cont. on page 5)

by Patricia Fason (continued from our June 2007 newsletter) ...“You won’t believe this place!” I got out of the car after a long drive way out into the Lake Talquin State Recreation Area and saw a large property surrounded by water with three structures on it. Two were rather large houses in need of paint and a third between them was a small block building resembling a free-standing one-car garage or workshop. Spiders the size of my hand, which I later learned were called “orbit spiders,” coveredthe outside of the houses. There were also numerous mud dobbers, yellow jackets and other assorted wasps everywhere. A petite, pretty young lady with the soft voice of a Southern Belle, approached and introduced herself as Candee, the owner of the property. “The place is a little rough, so please, try to look at the ceilings to get an idea of the room sizes,” she said sweetly. She picked up a stick from the ground and wound up the spider webs covering the front door like a cotton candy vendor at the fair. She tossed it into the bushes and opened the door. (Spiders make my blood run cold...especially when they are large enough to take your arm off!) We stepped inside a large great room full of junk. The carpet was an interesting hotel print and definitely looked like it was from the sixties. As I scanned the ceilings I was terrified to note that the large spiders and numerous wasps had equal access to the inside of the house as well! “Dear Mother, dear Blessed Mother, please...you’ve got to be kidding,” was all I could whisper. “There were holes in the screens and the house has been sitting open for awhile so some bugs did get in,” she continued, “I’ll have them all cleaned out before you get here.” She proceeded confidently down a narrow hallway with tall ceilings that only made it appear all the more narrow. “Here’s the first room,” she said as she swung the door open. I was barely able to process the piles of junk and filthy black wall above the bed before she quickly shut the door. “What’s wrong with this room?” I asked suspiciously. “Oh there was a woman living here awhile ago with dreadful housekeeping skills and I will be throwing all her abandoned bedding and belongings over the balcony in the morning. I just wanted to spare you the smell.” Spare me the smell, I thought? Oh my..... The kitchen was being torn out; no refrigerator, stove, washer or dryer and the cabinets seriously needed work. The back bathroom had suffered a recent fire which had melted the recessed ceiling and covered the back of the house in soot. There

was also a mentally ill gentleman living in thehouse who didn’t want to move out. Lord, this isn’t a project, it’s a penance. Can we even do this, I thought to myself? I was completely overwhelmed, but in my soul I heard, “With God all things are possible.” We continued the tour and I heard the history of both houses and all their tenants and the amazing work her father did there while building them. We saw eagles fishing in the lake and carrying their catch to their nest at the corner of the property to feed their young whose shrill cries filled the air. It was quiet here, so very peaceful. No traffic noises, nothing...just the songs of a multitude of different birds and the rustle of the trees in the soft breeze. There was a rugged beauty about this property dotted with colorful and fragrant flowers and I felt a great peace in my soul. I knew this was where Our Lady wanted us to be, so I pulled out my cell phone and dialed the President of our Board of Directors and all I could say was, “You won’t believe this place.” (Next month: The House that Larry Built )

It has been brought to our attention that yet again a certain group in the US is collecting sensitive personal data and photos from those who desire to be consecrated and sending this information to unknown persons in Nigeria. There is NO REASON why any devotee should provide this information to anyone! We do not know for what purpose this information is being gathered, but it is not necessary, nor is it a requirement of this devotion. Please be careful! $5,000 in counterfeit US postal money orders were sent to us here and we were instructed by email to send the cash back via Western Union to the Nigerian Apostolate immediately. We did not do so, we waited because something smelled fishy and we thank God for protecting us from this scheme. The FBI is investigating this. None of your mailing information collected by our Association is ever shared with any third party, whatsoever. Our databases are stored on a secure server that is locked down every night to protect your privacy and ours. Our priests, who are all from Nigeria, urge you to exercise extreme caution and avoid giving your sensitive personal data to anyone claiming that it is needed for anything pertaining to this devotion!

On the First Saturday of September 2007, the month dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows, we had our first Mass in our new Chapel, Mother of the

Sorrowful Heart at the Foot of the Cross. On the Third Friday of the same month, we were granted the precious gift of the Eucharist to repose in our chapel! (see photos on the back cover) We still need a few items if you would like to offer one (or can make one if you are handy with needle and thread!) in memory of a loved one:

Altar Cloths Tabernacle veil CorporalsAlbsPresider’s Chair & Server’s Chair LecternStatue of Our Sorrowful Mother & St. Joseph 2 Stands for the statues 20 Chairs with Kneelers 3 Holy Water Fonts 20 Daily Mass Missalettes 20 sets of the Divine Office 20 Douay-Rheims Bibles Bookcase on castors for books

Our lawsuit against the publishing house that printed our book without ever signing a contract with us, is finally over! Your prayers and fasting were very fruitful and we felt your powerful prayer support. We now know how David must have felt facing Goliath! Praise and thanksgiving to Our Lord for His generosity and continued goodness to this little apostolate! We ask you to join us in praying for the all the staff of that publishing company and their attorneys that God may bless them all and show them the fruits of this powerful devotion and that they may see clearly that what belongs to God cannot possibly be “owned” by any human being. It is vitally important to note that if that publishing company’s desired outcome of “privatizing” this devotion had been achieved, all people would have to pay them to use, preach, teach, hold retreats and even have Masses concerning this devotion! This has never been done before in the Catholic Church. This precedent, if set in Federal Court, would have stripped even religious orders of their ability to teach and hold public events concerning their spirituality unless they first paid a fee to the publishing house who printed their prayers, with or without their permission! The cost to defend this devotion and the Church from this threat was almost $25,000 (and Patti is still paying). The threat has been stopped at this time, but we urge all of you to pay close attention to the activities of publishing houses in the future so hopefully no one will succeed in stripping us and the Church of our right to pray and share our devotions without cost.

Barnabas wrote: In our novena prayer, in the first nine day Novena, I saw in the cloud a vision of the sacred right hand of Our Lord Jesus Christ. The Precious Blood of Jesus constantly flowed. The vision remained for some time, then passed. Then the Holy Face of Jesus Christ appeared bathed with blood. He calmly said:

“My son, all who are living in true love, who endure insults because of me, who forgive and bless all who offend them shall be blessed with my right hand. My Precious Blood will be constantly dropping on their hearts. The love they have for me will multiply and they will rejoice in my loving care. Children, my right hand is for blessing and healing. Whenever you are in need, call upon the healing power of my Precious Blood from my right hand and you shall be well. My children, when the world held my right hand and pierced it with a long nail, I cried and offered my pains for your healing and salvation. Meditate on my agony for your sake. Think how I love you. When the first blood dropped, I remembered the chains that hold you and offered my Precious Blood for your release. My love multiplies when I see you rejoicing in this great salvation. My children, do you know that my love multiplies when I remember you whom I saved? But today, you whom I saved are crucifying me day and night. With coldness and neglect you practice the devotion of the price of your salvation. Repent from your sin and turn to me – I still love you. I will wash you. I will save you. Listen children, anyone who neglects and takes as a cheap thing the Blood of his salvation will greatly regret it in the abyss. It will be better if he was not a human being. But since he is, it will be better that he repent now. I am the Agonizing Jesus who loves you. I bless you. Come with love and willingness tomorrow – you will rejoice.” (4 July 1998)

(continued from page 3...)was going on in California, the Lord had already in His gentle way sought out an instrument he would use to propagate the devotion more widely. The story of how Patricia Fason, the Director of the Association of the Precious Blood, was called to this devotion is better told by herself. A trial that started with the loss of her husband, home and property in Jupiter, Florida, brought her to Tallahassee and into contact with the email address of the Apostolate of the Precious Blood in Nigeria. The end result was they sent her a copy of the Nigerian prayer book with permission to edit and publish it. When the Apostolate in Nigeria was informed of Queenship’s willingness to publish their book, they put Queenship in contact with Ms.

5

Fason in Florida. The job was accomplished in March 2005 with the printing of Ms. Fason’s updated and expanded version of the original Nigerian prayer book. This was when the first copies of the Queenship edition of the Association’s prayer book came out. The same month the book came out, I was visiting in the United States as planned. I began a series of trips to the cities where I have friends, talking about the devotion beginning in Sacramento, California. I traveled from there to Santa Barbara to meet the publishers and thank them for the job and to continue the propagation of the devotion with the books. During the visit, the director of Queenship Publishing, Mrs. Claire Schaefer, was consecrated to the Precious Blood according to the ceremony in the book, along with some of her workers in a Mass celebrated in her office. From Santa Barbara I flew to Houston, Texas, where I performed the same Consecration for three others including Mrs. Aurora Protomartyr. From Houston, I travelled to Tallahassee, Florida, at the invitation of Ms. Fason who had arranged for her consecration there. I consecrated her on March 18, 2005. Through her this devotion was taken down into South Florida in the West Palm Beach area from where she had previously moved. Many of her friends and devotees there were also consecrated. From Tallahassee, a more organized program of propagation of the Devotion was mapped out by Ms. Fason after her consecration. This program took me to Virginia, Long Island, New York, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Chicago. Groups of people listened to talks about the devotion and many received it with warm and open hearts and others were consecrated accordingly. These talks gave the prayer book a brisk sale rate as people ordered them by the dozens and spread it across the country. Ms. Fason kept a good record of the peoples and places where talks of the devotion were held. Thus she became the contact person for the devotees in America, arranging for the consecrations of those who were ready later and ordering the books and sacramentals for those who needed them. Joined by other ardent devotees, a Board of Directors was formed. Thus was born the Apostolate of the Precious Blood in Tallahassee, Florida, on May 31, 2005, The Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. They later changed the name to the Association of the Precious Blood, on October 1, 2007, at the request of their Bishop. What all began from a small room in her humble apartment had now ended up on a beautiful 7-acre lakeshore property.

Divine Providence All the incidents that led to the origin of the Asso- ciation of the Precious Blood have the touch of Divine Providence. The Lord’s parable of the mustard seed recorded in Mark 4:31-32, seems to have manifested itself in this Association. What started like a tiny seed from the parlor of a small apartment only three years ago, has now sprung into a large but remote property by the side of a beautiful lake which could never have been located by anyone without some kind of divine guidance. After years of sufferings, trials and difficulties, the Association of the Precious Blood is now reaching out to devotees in over 30 countries of the world, offering the devotion in several languages. It is very heartwarming to note that the Association of the Precious Blood is simply committed to the spread of this devotion. Besides offering the books and materials needed for this devotion at a very affordable rate, it sends free items to many missionaries and the poor far and wide who are committed to spreading the devotion according to the mind of our Lord. Clear evidence of this fact is that the whole prayer book is made available on the Association’s website so that people can download and print it free of charge from anywhere in the world. This is an eloquent testimony to a true apostleship. Nothing but the guidance of divine providence could have made this possible.

Rules About Propagation of Devotions It is good to note that in the Catholic Church, all devotions or divine revelations are considered divine gifts from Heaven. Therefore they become property of the Church when they are approved. When not yet approved, they are the property of the faithful. Consequently, no one can lay personal claim over them. On the other hand, any member of the faithful or group of the faithful who desire to engage in propagating any particular devotion, are free to do so, provided their intention is for the glory of God, the good of the Church and salvation of souls. This is why we have various versions of the Catholic Bible and other important prayer books and sacramentals of the Church published and pro- duced by various groups and institutions. Every group or institution has a copyright over their own version or type of the same product. The faithful are free to obtain materials from whichever source they choose. There is usually no competition or domination in spiritual matters, however, excellence and dedication should be the guiding principle for all those involved in any apostolate spreading devotions. Various groups should see themselves not as contenders but as collaborators, for the reward for any good work will be in Heaven, not

6

here below. The Lord, who sees the intentions of our hearts, knows all those who work for the good of His kingdom.

A Leading Example Given that there is an urgent need to spread the devotion to the Precious Blood around the world, it is clear that no one person or group can accomplish it all. Consequently there is need for as many apostolates as possible around the world. The Association of the Precious Blood in Florida has set a leading example as shown above. All those who intend to open up new apostolates should join them and follow their lead. The Association has widespread contacts and an abundance of materials for this devotion. These should be seen as common resources for all. We thank all the devotees and benefactors of the Association and encourage them to persevere in their patronage and support of this worthy group as a way to share in the blessings of this apostolate. As for myself, I have remained in the shadows of the Association, following it in prayer from inception until the present. To God be the greater glory.

(continued from page 1) those in the United States. It was a blessed way to celebrate the Association’s 3rd Birthday! Fr. Anthony Bús, bestselling author of “A Mothers Plea”; Fr. Seraphim Michalenko, MIC, Vice-Postulator of the cause of St. Faustina; classically trained polish sculptor Stefan Niedorezo and I worked together to design an iconic monstrance in which every minute detail is rich with meaning from the Scriptures and Tradition. For example, the specially made 12” diameter Host is reposed in Mary’s Heart. In biblical numerology, 12 is perfection in governing. There were 12 tribes of Israel, 12 Apostles, 12 foundations of the Heavenly Jerusalem, 12 gates, 12 pearls, 12 angels. The measurements of the New Jerusalem are 12,000 furlongs or stadia while the wall will be 144 (12 x 12) cubits (Rev. 21: 16-17). Can anyone argue that Christ Himself in the Most Holy Eucharist reposed in the Heart of His Virgin Mother would not be absolute perfection in governing our world? Forty rubies representing the number of probation and trial, surround the Eucharist on the Crown of Thorns like little drops of the Precious Blood. The Israelites wandered the desert for 40 years (Deut. 8:2-5). Moses was on the mount for 40 days (Exodus 24:18); Jonah proclaimed 40 days until the destruction of Nineveh (Jonah 3:4); and Jesus was tempted for 40 days in the desert (Matt. 4:2). Of those 40 rubies, 30 are small in honor of the 30

years Our Lord lived his hidden life with Mary and Joseph. Three large rubies, 3 being the number of Divine Perfection, represent the three years of Jesus’ public ministry and also the Most Holy Trinity. Then there are seven medium rubies representing, in blessed Pope John XXIII’s words, “the Divine Blood cascading down into all the Church’s sacraments.” (from On Promoting Devotion to the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. An Apostolic Letter by Blessed Pope John XXIII, June 30, 1960 found in our prayer book) Seven is also the number of spiritual perfection. The crown of thorns circling the Eucharist is similar to the one seen around the Sacred Heart of Our Lord in the apparitions to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque in 1674 at Paray-le-Monial in France. During this apparition Our Lord told her of his infinite love for mankind and his desire that he should be honored through the display of this image of his heart and he promised that all who did so would be specially blessed. There are also numerous promises in our Precious Blood prayer book made by Our Lord for all those who venerate his Crown of Thorns. In late October, a DVD will be available through our newsletter with the full EWTN broadcast of the Mass. A documentary on the creation of this monstrance is also in the making. Please continue your prayers for the great work of Fr. Anthony Bús and his staff at St. Stanislaus Kostka, as well as for the continuing good works of the Association of the Precious Blood and all our staff in the world.

(continued from pg. 2) “Consecration to the Rose of Perfect Purity” in the back of the book. Nowhere in the book did the publisher mention the Lord’s specific directions to prepare oneself carefully prior to making this consecration. Our Lady gave the following message to Barnabas on July 13, 2001: “Children, even though all who wish to renew their consecration can come and do so, only those who meet with these demands shall receive this Holy Rose. Anyone who neglects this order calls down my sorrowful tears upon himself or herself. The hands that offer and the hands that receive it unworthily pierce the Two Hearts of Love.” Preparation for consecration to the Rose of Perfect Purity consists in studying the teachings over the course of two years after the first anniversary of your consecration to the Precious Blood, and making three retreats which are available in Nigeria and also here in Tallahassee, Florida, at our retreat center. Our priests are also

available to come to a retreat center near you to offer these retreats for your prayer group closer to your home or by teleconference call. We hope the publishers will remove this consecration ceremony from their version of our book so that this devotion may be taught accurately and in accord with our Lord’s requests in the future. Neither Bishop Ayo Maria nor the visionary, Barnabas, approved of nor knew of this consecration being added to the book by that publisher. Please do not make this consecration until you are properly prepared. Our Lady said on July 14, 2001, “Little friends of God, these lessons are not proverbs. These are lessons of perfection. Anyone who receives this Rose receives fourteen voices of God’s judgment. If you abuse any of the petals of this Holy Rose, know that you have abused the heavenly gift. Worse still, you are calling upon yourself the holy tears of the Queen of heaven and earth that obtained this gift for you.” This warning from Heaven should not be taken lightly. Our Lady continues: “Listen, my children; the Rose, which has been offered to you, is holy. Jesus your Savior, loves you. He heard my cry and offered you this Holy Rose. This is a Rose of Perfection. Only those who are striving for perfection will receive it. Through this Rose they will not find it hard to follow the bloody way of perfection. This Rose will be the source of their joy and consolation in the rough way of perfection.” We are offering all the necessary retreats and study manuals (as we finish them) for you to prepare yourself properly to receive this grace. We offer this information and these messages for your discernment. We are now publishing all our own books right here in Tallahassee to be certain that we will retain the purity of the teachings, prayers and messages. All our publications are proof-read for accuracy by our Editor-in-Chief, Fr. Anthony Anokete, one of the five priests Our Lord chose to spread this devotion to the world. We are assisted by Fr. Peter Claver Ugoagwu, the first priest to have his prayer group pray this devotion when Barnabas first began receiving messages from Our Lord and the Spiritual Director of this apostolate. We also have the prayer support and spiritual assistance of Fr. Evaristus Eshiowu, FSSP, who brought this devotion to America in 2004 and travelled all around the country speaking and teaching about it as his gift to the American public. Rest assured you will get very accurate information from these holy priests who know this devotion well and have suffered so much to bring it to you!

(continued from page 1)to make this change by switching from hand-painting to a silk-screening process. The wood used for the cross is not as thick as it was previously. The overall look is very impressive. If you have already placed a “pre-order,” as well as any new orders, you may now have your Crucifixes in English, Spanish or Latin for no additional charge! Please contact us before we ship your order if you want to change it. If you would like olivewood from the Holy Land for your Crucifix, please add an additional $35. (The olivewood is on sale for $68 on our “pre-order” special until September 1st. Retail is $75) Coming next month, French & Italian! Once our new manufacturing center is up and running full speed, no one will ever have to wait for a Crucifix again and we will be the only location in the world producing them in multiple languages!

(continued from page 1)places designated by the local bishop. Pope Benedict XVI also gave some lessons we can learn from St. Paul.

1. Evangelization is necessary to Christians. The Holy Father said the Church needs modern Christian heroes who will imitate St. Paul’s missionary energy and spirit of sacrifice. Look at your immediate sphere of influence: your family, parish and community, what can you do there? We should always work to cast our nets as widely as possible to spread the Kingdom of Christ like St. Paul did. Souls are at stake and the battle between good and evil in the world is raging.

2. Disagreements are human nature, but charity is eternal. The Holy Father pointed out that saints Peter and Paul were very different figures with different roles in the Church, and there was tension between them. But together, they helped build the Church and showed the world “a new way of being brothers.” Paul also had a famously sharp disagreement with St. Barnabas, so bitter that they separated. When the Church seems polarized or on the verge of division, we can always take comfort that there have always been disagreements in the Church, but through a greater charity, and in the unity of the Holy Spirit, the Church always survives.

3. Our Church is built on the sacrifice of the Apostles. It was only a few decades ago that Peter’s tomb was found to be buried deep beneath the center altar of St. Peter’s Basilica. Now Vatican

experts have discovered a roughly cut marble sarcophagus deep beneath St. Paul Outside the Walls, which, said Pope Benedict: “according to the common opinion of the experts and unopposed tradition, holds the remains of the Apostle Paul. It should strengthen our faith to know that our Church was built on the martyrdom of the apostles.

4. Be ready for martyrdom. These are frighten- ing times we live in, with new legal challenges making it criminal to be a believing Catholic on some issues in Canada and elsewhere. But don’t worry, says the Pope. The Church’s actions are credible and effective only to the extent that Christians are willing to “pay personally for their faith in Christ, in every situation.” Where this commitment is lacking, the appeal of the Gospel is weaker, he said. St. Paul lived and worked for Christ; he suffered and died for him. His life and his example are sorely needed in this world today.

In our desire to draw the greatest fruit from these spiritual treasures extended to all the faithful by our Holy Father, the Association of the Precious Blood will dedicate and place all our evangelization efforts this year under the patronage and heavenly assistance of this great missionary Apostle, St. Paul. May the powerful intercession of this Prince of the Apostles assist us all in spreading this devotion to the ends of the earth during the upcoming Pauline year for the conversion and salvation of a multitude of souls, the strengthening and purification of the Catholic Church and the protection and sanctification of all our priests.
